Rick D.
Suggestions welcome: Ford Sync Issues 2020 Ford Edge SEL, VIN: 2FMPK4399LBA76098 As of 11/04/2023 Will not remember USB selection from stop to start. Does not recall random music selection. Occasionally will not show screen requiring a soft reset. Does not remember phone. Does not upload phone contacts. Shows no recent calls. Does not remember prior map destinations. Does not remember home/work inputs. Does not remember on/off settings from stop to start. Comment: Unit functions normally when phone is rebound. Still does not show recent calls or contacts. GPS functions normally. One suggested fix was to remove and replace two (?) fuses. Did not do so. Did remove one starting battery cable and reinstall after 1 minute. No change.

If anything less than 3.4 build 23188, then update it and see if your issues are resolved. The problems you are describing are typical on build 22251. I had set the auto update feature, but it shut off when powered down, so it did not update on its own. It also lost my Wi-Fi connection. Today, given your advice, I babysat the unit with the vehicle on accessory. It downloaded and installed 23188. Took about an hour and a half. I have only tried a couple of features, but they are working fine. Whomever was in charge of 22251 ought to have an unpaid vacation and a mandatory testing review. BTW, I have not looked, but is there a way to download updates via some Ford website to a USB and then update from that source? Just a curiosity. SYNC 3 updating via WiFi is a spotty proposition for many. However, to answer your question: Yes, there is a Ford SYNC 3 update website. You can find it here- https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/ There you can check for available SYNC 3 updates, download them, and follow the instructions to load to a USB Flash drive and install in your vehicle. Good luck. Rick D.
jpohlman
What you have are the symptoms of the rwdata partition filling up bug that got introduced with .22251. If you update to .23188 via a USB you're problems should go away.
