Navigation 2020 Escape

Recommended Posts

I am having several issues with ford sync.  Phone issues, radio issues and now navigation issues.  Every time I start the vehicle it starts to navigate to the last destination.  I have to go to the navigation screen and end route but it keeps coming back on its own.  Several issues and dealer updated the system even though it wasn't in need. Any ideas.  I tried to do a master reset for the second time but that doesn't even work, the continue button seems to be frozen.

Hi rlabonte. Try deleting that "last destination" from the "Previous Destinations" list. If that does not work, try deleting all previous destinations.

Let us know how that works and good luck.

I deleted all of them and they all came back, so I deleted the one that keeps coming back and it stayed deleted as of last night.  I haven't tried it yet today.  Another problem is that my ford pass will not activate now.  One thing after another.

First thing is to be sure you are on the latest Sync version.  If you are not up to date, I would get that done first.

As far as FordPass not activating, can you see the modem serial number in settings?  If it is blank, then either the modem is bad or the system is just confused.  Even if it is showing, the system may benefit from a hard reset to help with your other issues.  I would try disconnecting the battery for a short time to let all the hardware completely reset.  Then, after reconnecting the battery, give it some time for everything to come back up and see what happens.  You may need to do a Master Reset as well once the system comes back up.  Some users on other vehicles have reported the need to do multiple consecutive Master Resets to clear up problems similar to yours.

Be sure to check your owners manual for what to consider when replacing/disconnecting the battery.  Some vehicles require things like auto up/down windows to be reset (instructions for that should also be in the manual) as well as other things.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have done a soft reset, master reset.  the dealer did an update but it didn't need one.   Already have 3.4.22251.  The navigation issue I was having has seemed to have disappeared.  Main problem is that you can't make a call because it says contacts aren't downloaded or sync is trying to download or no phones are paired.  When you start the car it always goes to an AM station of which we never listen to.  The dealer also disconnected the battery, they had a call out to Ford and they got back to me and wanted me to delete the phone and repair, of which I have done several times and I told them that.  I just amazes me how for can just tell me to do such a lame thing after all I have told them I have done.  It is just so frustrating.

I'm kind of wondering if they even disconnected the battery.  the manual says that the clock will have to be reset, you have to reset the window bounce back.  Saved radio stations will be lost and the steering angle sensor will have to be relearned.  All my preset stations were there. Dealerships lie so bad.

I still think the hard reset may be worth a shot as long as you are OK with addressing what your manual mentions about resetting features.  Also, did you look for the modem serial number?

Another thing that others have had success in fixing issues with 3.4.22251 is using the Cyan Labs process to upgrade to newer software. I have not done this myself, but they have version 3.4.23088 available now.  They make updates available sooner than Ford provides them on the Ford website.  This process is not supported by Ford so there is some risk using it. You may want to check it out. Be sure to read their support information and follow their instructions exactly (especially for 2020 vehicles).  Many users successfully use this process instead of the approved Ford process.
