New to SYNC

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this car tech stuff. I bought a 2016 Ford Expedition. I can connect my Bluetooth, I can use my phone calling and texting features, but I have no apps showing up even with cord plugged in. The voice button won't work. Fordpass and website is useless. What do I need to do to make all of SYNC3 work for me? I keep seeing Applink online but not sure which app to download. I'm lost...lol

Hi Jrscott1970 and welcome to the Ford SYNC Forum. SYNC 3 has many features, far too many to cover in a readable reply. Then there are differences between using SYNC with an iPhone or Droid.

Your best course of action would be to read the SYNC section in your vehicle Owners Manual. If you do not have the hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/

You can also find many how-to and Help videos/links online. Just Google "How to use SYNC 3":  https://www.google.com/search?q=How+to+use+SYNC+3&client=firefox-b-1-d&ei=dAJZZL-PAvenptQP3c-N2AM&ved=0ahUKEwi_mbzt8uX-AhX3k4kEHd1nAzsQ4dUDCBA&oq=How+to+use+SYNC+3&gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQDDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIECAAQHjIGCAAQCBAeMgYIABAIEB4yBggAEAgQHjoKCAAQRxDWBBCwAzoHCAAQDRCABDoGCAAQBxAeOggIABAHEB4QCjoICAAQCBAHEB5KBAhBGABKBQhAEgExUPQLWNMWYOwiaAJwAXgAgAFbiAHvAZIBATOYAQCgAQHIAQjAAQE&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Feel free to ask any questions, and good luck.

You will learn the Applink offering is practically discontinued, probably given that most use CarPlay or Android Auto. There are very few apps that work with it, and all I can use is Pandora, and it often doesn't show up. I found it best to just connect my phone via Bluetooth and play music that way, or connect via USB cord when i want to use a map.
