Muzicman61
Just wondering if anyone has found a way to control Sync when connected with Android Auto. If I use the talk button, the commands seem to only work with my phone/AA. I can't seem to use a Sync command while AA is active. For example, let's say I wanted to switch to the music on my USB drive, I would normally just hit the talk button and say USB. But that doesn't work while connected to AA. I'm guessing it's not possible but thought I'd ask the experts. ?

While using Android Auto (and/or Apple CarPlay) we can not use the vast majority of SYNC features/commands. The simple explanation is that when we are connected to Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, we are no longer able to access voice commands for most SYNC features. However, what we can do is press the SYNC button on the SYNC display screen to switch over to SYNC, then use SYNC voice commands. Then press the Android Auto (or Apple CarPlay) display screen button to return to Android Auto (or Apple CarPlay). But there are some limitations there also. This video explains some of the ins and outs: You did not mention what vehicle you own. The video describes Ford vehicles, but Lincolns are similar, with a few button differences. If you have a Lincoln, you do do a Google search for the Lincoln specific videos. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
Muzicman61
Thanks. That's what I figured. Yes, it's Sync 3.0 and a 2017 Ford Fusion. I have done as you said hitting the Sync button on the display. Just a bit less convenient and even then, voice commands do not work without completely disconnecting the usb cable to the phone. Sure would be a nice enhancement if AA could recognize a Sync command and "forward" it to the Sync module. So perhaps if I preface my command with SYNC... SYNC USB to switch my audio to USB. Maybe something one of the AA developers could figure out.
Multitask
Ford and Lincoln made it so that AA or Apple Play take over the system.... In my Kia, I can address both... but then the mapping is Android...

Yours faithfully. Hi Davidaci. I am assuming you are actually asking about how to start a new topic/thread, not answer one (since you are already answering one here)? If yes...Choose a sub-forum which fits your topic/question. Click the "Start new topic" button on the right side. Post your new topic/question. Good luck.
