nrupert
I am looking for a download file of Sync3 v2.2 (v2.3 might work) for an APIM with Navigation. I'm suffering from one of those common issues where a 2016 with early Sync 3 will not update correctly from version 1 straight to version 3. A file of v2.2 would help me out, unless someone has found a better solution. As it currently sits, my unit says it is in v3.0, but voice recognition is "not ready" and I cant use Andriod Auto or update maps due to a faulty update. Please help. Multitask
Typically a 2016 would not have come with Sync 3, Sync 2 yes.... so at a guess this is an upgraded unit. One thing to try is look for a wrecked vehicle... get the VIN from it, and see if you can get 2.3 also, you should be able to go from 1.x to 3.0 the APIM does not care that much... Multitask hit the nail on the head. The 2016 Fusion was not equipped with SYNC 3 from the factory. The 2016 models were equipped with either SYNC w/MyFord (base models), or SYNC w/MyFord Touch (higher end models). SYNC 3 was not available in the Fusion until the 2017 model year. So if your Fusion has SYNC 3 now, it means a previous owner installed it. Therefore, it is not eligible to download updates from the SYNC 3 update website. You will need someone to supply files to you (as you are trying for), or find another aftermarket solution. Good luck.
alcohenusa
Actually, 2016s did come with Sync 3. I know my friend’s 2016 Edge has it. It may not have been available in all models though, but not sure about that. I also did not see where the OP said he has a Fusion but maybe so. Anyway, here is an article (there are others) talking about the update that came out to allow CarPlay and Android Auto to be used on 2016 Sync 3. The 2016s did not originally allow CarPlay and AA. They also needed a new USB hub to support CarPlay. https://9to5mac.com/2017/05/19/ford-carplay-models/

One of the drawbacks of being involved in so many forums and brain clouds. ? That was why I stated SYNC 3 was not available on the Fusion until the 2017 model year. And I was specifically referring only to the Fusion. This is also a good example of why it always helps when a member posts their vehicle model/model year when asking questions. But you are correct that SYNC 3 was available in the 2016 model year on some Ford/Lincoln models. Thanks for catching that and good luck. Multitask
Yea, because the OP did not specify what they had, we all assume that they have something that is not standard, i.e. a 2016 Edge that came with Sync3, I think only that model/year did it... kinda like the Musktang is the only one with Sync 4 (or it was the first to have it) an assumption was made here... I also said 'typically' knowing that some early vehicles had it.... ?
Muzicman61
Gotta get me one of those Musktangs!!! ?
Multitask
I like the looks, they just needed to call it something else.... But even if they gave me one, I wouldn't have anyway to charge it at home, no hook ups where I am. and work probably charge (no pun) too much

I just saw a new 2021 Mustang Mach 1 in my dealer's showroom. Now that is a sweet looking ride. And only priced at $60K.
Multitask
When it comes to the gas car Mustang, they have screwed up the looks a few times.... I almost got a '65 2+2 in baby blue for $1200, a few decades ago... wish I had the $$ then...

But I get it that sometimes it's more important to put food on the table and keep the lights on. CARR142
Multitask
I was probably 17-18 then... so that was a TON of cash then.

I guess I was fortunate enough when I was that age that I had several jobs and could have easily afforded it.
Multitask
I did not technically start working till I was 18... last 6 months of my senior year I was part time, then once I graduated went full time. Just so I could finish school.

Had multiple paper routes which led to a nice job with the newspaper in town. Very blessed. Multitask
I was working under the table at 14... first real job was at 17 part time... because I was still in high school it was 73-74 then... Oddly I was working in the mainframe business @ 17-18 ... wasn't until I was 34 that I actually got into computers... and have been there ever since. Multitask
Normally we would not stray from the OP... but that person posted on the 13th, and never came back for the slew of answers. ? Muzicman61
