Same for Ford... it's really for Sync 3 and not dependent on vehicle.

Hi Muzicman. Yes, as the subject title stated, it is the 2021 SYNC 3 NAV map update. No mention was made of it being "vehicle dependent".

I own Lincolns, so linked to the Lincoln SYNC 3 NAV map update website. Ford vehicles have a separate Ford SYNC 3 NAV map update website, located here: https://syncnavigation.com/ford/

Good luck.

You cited Lincoln... "According to the Lincoln SYNC 3 NAV map update website."  Some people may have interpreted that the update was only for Lincolns.  Just adding some clarity.

Hi Muzicman. So was I. Plus, I added the Ford SYNC 3 NAV map update website.

Good luck.

Well, the Web site has maps available again, but the main page still says it's NA1.19.  And for my 2018, they are no longer free.  A 5 year subscription is $199 for download and $239 for USB.  A one time update is $109 for download and $149 for USB.

While I really would like an update, I'm not going to pay for something that I may already have.  If someone still has free updates, then please post what version you get.

Hi alcohenusa. Yes, for SYNC 3.0, the "current" version is NA 1 19. The update being offered is NA 1 20.

And I am in the same boat as you. First two updates were free (to NA 1 18 and NA 1 19. Now I would need to pay.

For SYNC 3.4, the current version is/was NA 2 19. The update version available is NA 2 20.

Good luck.

Hi alcohenusa. Yes, I also just saw that they corrected the website and was coming back to mention it.

Good luck.

And the best part of this is they are still providing 119 when you download!  I sent an email asking what is going on. Last year they provided incorrect license files.  Now they provide the wrong maps!

Hi alcohenusa. Just saw that same complaint by a member on a Fusion forum who downloaded the update. Looks like a similar issue as the license file fiasco you referred to.

I'll post back and let you know if there is any update over there. Let us know if you hear back on your email and good luck.

I re-downloaded this morning and got an updated file.  The files within the zip have newer date/time stamps.  I am somewhat skeptical that this is 100% correct but there is no way to tell for sure at the moment.  The old file had a folder with the 119 version in the name.  The new one just has the file structure without a version number.

I am trading emails with ALOM about this and will post more info if/when I hear back from them.

EDIT:  No new info from ALOM other than the correct files will download now.

I received an email from ALOM to re-download the maps.

It looks like a generic email for anyone that may have received the wrong files.

Hi alcohenusa. Thanks for the information, I am passing it on to others in the MKZ/Fusion/SYNC/Lincoln/Ford forums.

Good luck.

I can confirm that this map update is providing NA 220.  I know the web site says it is 120, but it is really 220, even for Sync 3.0 vehicles.

Hi alcohenusa. Well, that is certainly a twisty new twist. ?

I am still trying to decide if I will just skip a year, then get the 5 year subscription when NA 1 or 2 21 come out next year...or get it now.

Thanks for the info and good luck.

I had helped a friend update his 2019 F250 which interestingly only gets Sync 3.0. He got a free update and it was 2 20.

After seeing that be successful, I bit the bullet and purchased the 5 year subscription for my 2018 Fusion. Just finished that update and it is also 2 20.

So are the map updates really any different for Sync 3.0 vs 3.4?

Hi Muzicman. No. And they were not different before, other than version different numbers, in order to denote SYNC version.

Previously, the NAV map version numbers varied by the middle digit (i.e. NA 1 19 for SYNC 3.0, vs. NA 2 19 for SYNC 3.4). The middle digit only denoted SYNC 3.0 or SYNC 3.4. However, the actual information contained on the maps was the same.

Now, the NAV map version numbers are the same. It only means the versions were consolidated. All road/POI etc.information was and still is identical.

Good luck.

So would it be possible to take the complimentary (free) update for my wife's 2020 Edge ST and install it on my 2017 Fusion Energi?  My guess would be not but am hopeful.

Hi Muzicman. No.

As BL stated, there is a license file tied to the individual vehicle VIN, which is necessary for the installation. You would not have that license file for your 2017 Fusion, so the installation would fail.

Good luck.
