Reset sync 3

Recommended Posts

Sync has not worked since buy my 2016 Ford Fiesta. (30347 miles) Had if for 7 months now. I have never been able to get to the master reset in the system. Nothing works but the radio. Hard or soft reset does not work. (Holding power button and forward scan button in) I have changed the fuses, tried the battery unplug. Went to a Ford dealer but they want lots of money just to look at it and see if the can fix it, if the unit is ok? They could have my car “for a day or so.” Looked all over web for the software thinking i could load a usb and reinstall. Nope. Ford website says my software is up to date. At this point it just seems like it will never work! I paid for the car, owe nothing in it. Why should i pay more to have a product that never worked and apparently fails in numerous Ford cars? Is there any other things i can try? I am at the point where I'm ready to trade the darn car in for a different model that has a dependable  handsfree phone and navigate system. A small accessory many folks look for in cars these days.

Hi Sue. You purchased the car used and SYNC has not worked since you purchased it?

Did you purchase the car from a Ford Dealer? Was there any type of used car warranty when you purchased it? If yes, when did you first let the Dealer know that SYNC did not work?

Assuming you used the correct reset procedure that is listed in your Owners  Manual (not just something you found online, which may be right or wrong), there is not much more self help that you can try. You have already tried all the other normal suggestions. Disconnected the battery, fuses etc.

Having the underlying problem diagnosed and corrected may be your only other option.

If other members have any ideas, I am sure they will jump in to help.

As I mentioned in my original post, sync has never worked in my vehicle. The only thing that works is the radio. I cannot get to master reset via settings, nothing on the sync screen menu works. You can select all the buttons til your blue and nothin happens. Its a dead system?

Hi Sue. Unfortunately yes, it seems to be a "dead system". There is no way to accurately diagnose this over the Internet. You have tried all the usual self-help remedies. (battery, fuses etc.). It could be a bad APIM or a handful or more other causes. If the vehicle is out of warranty, there is nothing that can be done now, other than pay to have it diagnosed and repaired. Or purchase an aftermarket Audio system that will give you Bluetooth connectivity, etc.

Just out of curiosity, you purchased a used vehicle with a non-working SYNC system. When did you first discover it did not work?  Did the car have any sort of CPO or Dealer warranty? if yes, did you ever bring it back to the Dealership to have it repaired during the warranty period? We have to assume not.

Keep us updated and good luck.
