Hello, there is a SYNC 3.4 update available

It is listed as 3.4.20282 and is available on the Ford owners web site.

It lists a 30-35 minute update time.

I won't be able to update until later in the week, but good luck to everyone.

I did the update. Didn't update the maps since I already have the latest version. It took around 10 to 15 minutes.

Didn't notice any changes tho

I didn't notice any changes to the things I use either.  I wish Ford could give us notes on the updates.

Hi Guys. Two bits of information: First, for kelshaer: Which version of SYNC do you have...3.0 or 3.4? I never assume by where people post.

NAV map updates via SYNC only occur with SYNC 3.4. And those NAV map updates will usually only occur once a year.

For SYNC 3.0 equipped vehicles, NAV map updates are a separate update that need to be downloaded from a separate website.

For radarxxx: These SYNC updates are nothing earth shattering. Usually simple bug fixes and compatibility updates for new iOS and Droid versions. Nothing we will notice, unless we were having the issue that the bug fix is meant to correct.

I agree it would be nice if Lincoln/Ford would list what an update contains. However, the list would probably read like most AppStore and Google update descriptions..."This update contains various bug fixes and system enhancements...etc".

Hope this information helps and good luck.

I did see one item I now have after the update, and a welcome one it is.  On the Ford owners site, I noticed

something called over-the air-updates.  This was new as I had never seen it before.

I went out to my Fusion, turned wifi connectivity and automatic updates on.  For the first time, It was able to find my

home wifi network and successfully connect.  I hope to download future updates by wifi.  We will see.  Fusion is 2019 titanium.

Although I have seen an update over WiFi, only once was it ever successful.  More than often I just use a USB flash drive to do the install.

I suspect that will be the case, and I will continue to use USB to update.  It was just a small victory that it finally connected to my WIFI, LOL.

I will report if the update by WIFI ever works.

Welcome!  Looks like USB is the most dependable way to go.  Let us know if you do have successful wifi update.

Hi radarxxx. Sorry, missed this previous reply of yours.

Just to give you the correct information: We can not determine why you were previously not able to see and/or connect to your WiFi networks. However, SYNC 3/3.3/3.4 have always had the ability to update via WiFi (when working correctly). There are limitations, as it needs a very strong WiFi signal, can only update when parked and connected to the a known WiFi network, can only download updates for 30 minutes after the vehicle is turned off etc, but the ability has always been there for SYNC 3+.

So as you have found out, downloading available updates through the Lincoln Owners SYNC 3 site and installing via USB is the most dependable method, at least in my experience.

All of that being said, "Over the air" updates are a different feature than WiFi updates, and are only available with the new SYNC 4 system. They are not available for vehicles with SYNC 3/3.3/3.4.

SYNC 4 is rolling out on new vehicles as we speak. However, SYNC 3/3.3/3.4 systems will not be able to factory upgrade to SYNC 4. The hardware and software are incompatible.

Hope this information helps and good luck.

Yeah, after a ton of owner complaints, Ford decided to install a modem in vehicles equipped with Sync4, so that means that all these shenanigans with connecting the phone are history, for those lucky owners.  I feel like I'm living in the 1900s since I had GMs OnStar in 2 previous vehicles that had a modem.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, I have been unable to run FordPass in my vehicle for several weeks now.  It says "Please wait while we collect information" and then never does.  I can't run Vehicle Health Reports because of this matter.  I don't have in-dash nav, so I haven't had notice about an update to Sync3 for about (maybe over) a year now.  Yes, I check the Ford Owner site regularly.  I believe that I'm still on Version 3.0. 3.3 and 3.4, to the best of my knowledge, were only for nav-equipped vehicles.

I'll look and see if there is an update to the FordPass phone app, shortly, because all this started the last time the phone app was updated.

Hi NCEcoBoost,

I don’t know what vehicle you have, but if it is Sync 3.0, then there is no official update available to take you to 3.3 or 3.4.

For my 2018 Fusion with nav, the latest update is v3.0.20204.

As far as the Fordpass app, the latest for iOS is 3.17.1 which was released this week.  Not sure about the Android version.

I updated all of my Android apps a while ago and it included FordPass.  I had last updated the apps on 2/20/21.  Didn't check the version.  App looks identical to pre-update.  Problem is that I'm not planning on running errands now (working at home) until next Thursday when I have meetings.  If I think of it before then, I'll try it in the driveway.

Well, this has gone from bad to worse.  I still haven't been able to run a Vehicle Health Report since early January.  Yesterday, the FordPass app updated.  Today, all it says is "Unfortunately, FordPass has stopped".  Deleted the app, reinstalled it and am getting the same thing.  This is really a bunch of sh*t, Ford!

Hi gang. I can still access Vehicle Health reports for my 2018 MKZ on my iPhone.

Which leads me to hypothesize (only a guess)...Perhaps Vehicle Health Report availability has become a model year available/unavailable issue? Or an issue with Droid phones?

Again, only taking in the information we have so far and making an educated guess.

Good luck.
