While using the USB collection in the console next to the seat on my 2020 Lincoln nautilus In order to see all my playlists contents, initially I had to manually go into the playlists on the actual iPod. Now works great. Otherwise Sync 3 reported some lists empty Occasionally I am finding my iPods battery dead and it has to recharge while driving. Multitask Posted October 1, 2020 Report Share Posted October 1, 2020 Not sure about the power on the USB port , but the ipod is always on, and if it's not getting a charge from that port, then that would explain it.... EliB Posted October 1, 2020 Author Report Share Posted October 1, 2020 I believe the issue was at the display on the iPod was staying on. I just turned on the display auto lock to 1 minute. I even set it to Airplane mode do it does not 'try' connect to anything... SoxanPance Posted October 5, 2021 Report Share Posted October 5, 2021 (edited) So, does the iPod Touch work trouble free with Sync 3.4? I have just picked up a new Fiesta. I have always used an updated iPod Classic with 128GB of SSD storage with my previous vehicles and have had no issues at all. However Sync seems to run it's own interface (shown as the Ford logo on the iPod screen), which, as is well documented, causes the Classic to stop, skip tracks and ultimately reset itself. I cannot live with this as a long term problem, which I even experienced on my drive home from the dealership! I am a bit of a nerd and want my iTunes playlists updated, therefore going down the USB stick route doesn't really work for me. I am happy to invest in a second hand iPod Touch as I only really need 64GB storage. But I only want to do this if a Touch works seamlessly with the Sync interface. Multitask Posted October 5, 2021 Report Share Posted October 5, 2021 I have Sync 3.4, and the 7th gen touch, and it works just fine.... although it is still (less than before) skipping about 1/4 second of time with in some songs that I know are ok otherwise. EliB Posted October 6, 2021 Author Report Share Posted October 6, 2021 I have a 7th generation iPod Touch which I use with sync 3.4. Some of the Playlists show up as blank on the Ford sync system. The work around that I found is to access the playlist on the actual iPod Touch by touching it on the iPod and for whatever reason once you do that the playlist work fine with the ford sync screen. I know it does not support any further iOS updates, but I dont need all the functionality. Also, I guess it could be connected as a Bluetooth anyway? Multitask Posted October 16, 2021 Report Share Posted October 16, 2021 I was thinking about this topic and something came up that was almost like this... I have a 2020 MKZ-Hybrid, and using 3.4, and a 7th gen ipod touch... it's on IOS 15.x the other day it just stopped putting out sound, and I think I know why... once I updated to 15.1 (yes the beta) it was playing sound again.... So I think it is because apple has a limit on when the 'beta's' stop working right.... had I been on 14, it might not have happened... Something to chew on.
