RetirEd
Am curious if anyone in the "know" has heard if Ford is planning any updates to Sync 3? Thanks.

RetirEd
Thank you, yes, software. Not holding out hope for map updates though,
Multitask
18xxx is current for most... 19xxx is in the pipes, don't know if it will make the light of day... if you have a 2019 3.3 is avail for them because they did something different with the APIM Maps are most always 3 years behind, so if you could pay to get upgaded to the 18 maps, they are probably only as recent as 2016/
NCEcoBoost
If you have a pre-2019 model with Sync3, Version 3 is as far as you'll be able to go. 2019s have an on-board modem, among other things. I've seen "secret" order guides for most 2020s and there isn't any mention of a new version of Sync (such as Sync4) anywhere in them. Several models are being heavily decontented. It appears that Ford, like GM, is hunkering down for severely falling vehicle sales in the near future. Although SYNC 3 3.0 is still the latest version for MY16/17 (and mid-year 18's), they definitely have an update planned for them very shortly. It's an increase in build number only, but brings a number of bug fixes to the 3.0 software. Particularly issues previously resolved in 3.3 and 3.4. Ford reps have mentioned it should be available within a month or two (and that information is a little dated now, so I expect it to be dropping very soon) The APIM differences between 2018.5+ and earlier SYNC 3 APIM's is primarily the apps/software partition size. I believe it's around 1.5GB for the MY18.5+ and 1GB for MY18 and earlier. SYNC 4 is in development, but further information other than bits of information users have gathered from Ford engineers at various conferences is not available (such as release date around 2021). SYNC 3 is definitely here as the flagship system for a bit longer. Edited June 5, 2019 by anzio

May wait a while after it comes out, but for sure, thanks for the update.

My last update went pretty smooth on one of my cars, but for whatever reason, it was an uphill battle getting my vehicle to even see the update on the USB! Hopefully this one doesn’t take too long to install.
