Please help 2015 Fiesta

Recommended Posts

Hi I recently bought a 2015 Fiesta SE for my teenage daughter. There are 3 ports in the console. Cig lighter, usb and aux. only the cig lighter works. When we plug an iPhone into usb it doesn’t read on radio. We press MEDIA or PHONE and it switches to those screens then switches back really fast to the regular radio. Pressing voice command on steering wheel doesn’t do anything either. Keep reading about a master reset and don’t see the option for that anywhere on the radio settings or in manual. She really wants to be able to stream music from her phone. Please help!

are you sure that a 2015 model year should be able to stream from the phone via USB?

i think that you can put a memory stick in the USB port and play from that. i don't us iOS but on my android, there is a setting for the phone to work in a mode that makes it behave like a USB drive turning it into a media source so you could use it like that. i think that will only allow you to play music files that are on the phone but not streaming services like spotify.

another thing, can it stream via Bluetooth? i think that's the ticket. then you can control playback via the steering wheel buttons. plug it into the USB port for power so the phone doesn't discharge.

hope that helps.

I hope that it has the ability to stream from the phone. I had called ford Sync assistance and they walked me through troubleshooting. They didn’t say I shouldn’t be able to. Also SYNC is not showing up on my Bluetooth options. I will be really disappointed if I can’t stream music. I’ve tried the voice command butting from the steering wheel and it doesn’t beep or respond at all.

See if the phone is showing as charging (lightning bolt on the battery) if not the port might be non-functioning.

And some USB cables that are for the Apple are charging ONLY, no data

It doesn’t show as charging which is why I felt like it was just the port. Then the headphone jack port didn’t work, then the voice command on the steering wheel. I feel like this is going to be a big headache. I’m considering aftermarket replacements. I don’t have the option in the settings screen to do a master reset. I’m not sure why.

if the phone does not show as charging, then there's a problem. the way to test is to use a cable that is working on another charger or port, like on a computer. if the cable is working elsewhere, then it's the port on the car. perhaps try using another phone as well.

i assume you're trying to pair the phone and sync. make sure bluetooth is turned on on both and then initiate the pairing procedure from sync. it should show on your phone under the bluetooth settings. you'll need to ok it. again, try with another phone as well to verify.

re the headphone jack (AUX IN), make sure that the phone and cable work on another device. if they do, then it's sync that isn't working.

have you checked the fuses?

i don't know how the voice command is supposed to work in a 2015 car. i assume you've got sync 2?

I have no clue what version of sync it is. We have tried multiple cords. We pulled the fuse and replaced but didn’t buy a new one. I’ve disconnected the battery. Nothing. I feel like I’m either going to have to take it to a ford dealership or go with aftermarket products if I want Bluetooth. I feel like this will be beyond the ability of the dealership I brought from the fix.

i wish i could help more but i think you're going to have to go to the dealer. if you just bought it used from a dealer, i would imagine that they have some sort of guarantee?

good luck.

I think it's beyond their ability to help. I contacted SYNC support again. They assured me that my SYNC should be compatible with the phone i'm using and also told me there was an update available that should help. I've downloaded it and will try to install this evening. Otherwise, i'll go to a local ford dealership.

Another way would be to see if there is someone else that has a Ford with Sync and plug it in and see if it works.

Maybe even another brand car, just to see if the cable works there too...

In the end, worst case is the port is dead.  or the APIM is not working correctly
