LG VX8350 and 2010 Escape

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just got a 2010 Ford Escape last week, the escape has sync V 3.1. I have a LG VX8350 (software version VX8350VO2)) and I read all about the issues with the auto download of the phone book and how to manually download the phone book. The sync my ride site indicates the phone was tested with software very VX8350VO1. The auto phonebook download it currently turned off. However, the phone still won't stay connected to the sync system (if I do get it connected). In addition, I usually have to try to manually pair the phone and sync...when I do this the phone indicates there are no bluetooth devices to connect to (and yes bluetooth is turned on in the escape).

I am currently frustrated (probably spent over 4 hours trying to get the systems to work together) and I am at a loss as to how to get the phone to work with sync. I am not sure if this updated phone software is not compatible with the newest sync software or what.

1) Does anyone have any advice as to how to get this to finally work? I am about ready to drive over the phone...

2) If not, what current Verizon phones have proven reliable and able to work well with Sync V 3.1.

Thanks,

Dan

I can hear your frustration. I've been there with my LG VX8350.

I have SYNC 2.1, which I understand is the same as 3.1, but for the older cars with the older hardware.

I only had a problem with the Auto Phonebook download disconnecting the phone about one minute after starting up the car. That was fixed by turning off the Auto download, which you say you did.

Does your phone indicate anything when you loose connection? For instance, I got the clue when it said something like "Approve PB download?, Yes or No". And then it disconnected if I did nothing.

I suggest you visit your dealer and let them look at it. Or you can also try SYNC's email and phone support, listed on the Ford's official www.syncmyride.com Owner to Owner forum. One of the SYNC sofltware engineers, Mike, also regularly helps people on that forum.

A list of tested compatible phones is also available on syncmyride.com.

Incidentally, I just got a Droid now, which works just fine with SYNC. But still no text reading feature, since I have Verizon.

UPDATE.... I get into my escape tonight and the phone automatically pairs with the car (1st time in a week ), it works flawlessly throught all of my errands (with the exception of the lack of a downloaded phone book). I come home and print off the instructions for a manual download, go to car and phone pairs (sweet). I get through the menu and get to add contacts, I press enter and the blue tooth connection is lost. (it says have phone push contacts instead of asking me to download the phonebook) I can't regain the connection. I go inside for about 20 minutes come back out and the phone connects. Try to do the manual download again and I get to add contacts, it drops the connection and won't connect again.

I seem to be getting booted everytime I go to download the phone book now, even manually. Any suggestions?

When you try using SYNC to manually download the phonebook, do you actually open your phone and hit the "Yes" button to allow the phonebook to be downloaded? If you do nothing, that is, if you don't hit Yes or No, then the phone will disconnect as you say.

If you're still having problems, it's time to take it to the dealer or SYNC help. You've suffered enough.

Larry,

Thanks for your help, this whole thing has been a bit weird. The phone wouldn't stay connected the first week, but it seems to now. The phone wouldn't do the auto download and the phone would never ask to download the phonebook, it just booted me off immediately. However, I was able to load the contacts one by one by sending a name card. The system seems to work now (yipee), I have my fingers crossed that the phone will continue to stay connected.

Thanks for the help.

Dan

LG phone started dropping calls again, and now won't connect. I was able to get my hands on a Droid phone and BB curve, both sync'd right away and worked flawlessly. That tells me the problem is with my phone (which does work with a bluetooth headset). Not sure if something is wrong with my phone or if the firmware version I have doesn't like to work with the sync version I have.

But none the less, for anyone with this phone and a problem similar to mine, I would bet if you swithced out phones the system would work great.
