Update caused "Voice Recognition Not Ready"

Recommended Posts

After the installing the latest update, my 2016 F150 said the installation completed correctly.  Now when pressing the voice command button on my steering wheel the screen displays, "voice recognition not ready".

I know there are other threads for this, but the all end with no fixes, so I thought I would try again.

Please help...

more info needed

what version were you at, what are you at now, did you get it from owner.ford.com ?

did you do a Factory Reset?

My software was at 1.0 when I bought the truck. I downloaded the software from Ford.com owner site and it said it worked fine.  I’ve tried multiple master resets and pulled the fuse and battery cable with no luck.

At at this point I believe a software issue but I don’t know where to get the version 2.2 software.

I wish I had an answer for you.   This happened to me yesterday and I called Ford Sync support.  The had me open the door, press the lock key, wait 2 minutes, turn on the radio, do the power & right button at the same time to reset but nothing worked.  The final solution from them was take it to the dealer.  Heading that way now.

Interesting,  I was told my 2016 is out of warranty by 2 months (only 33k miles though).  I need some documentation indicating that the APIM is under extended warranty.

After 3hrs on the phone with tech support, nothing worked!! They told me I had to take it in to ford and leave it. I found the fix myself. They admitted there is an issue with their software. Here’s the fix, first turn off your phone bt and do a master reset. Then connect your sync to WiFi, turn on auto update. Then do a check for updates. Your system will take another update. Turn your car off. The next time you start your car, voice recognition will work again....

you are welcome!
