MHOsborn
I updated my iPhone today to iOS 12, and can report that, so far, my Sync 3 system seems to play well with it. (I thought at first it didn't, as when I plugged the phone in to USB in my 2017 Titanium Edge, I couldn't get CarPlay to start. Unplugging/replugging the phone didn't seem to solve the issue. However, after make a stop for about 20 minutes, I started the car and plugged the phone in...this time CarPlay came up).
jtdwab
I think there is an update to come. One of IOS12s improvements is to allow Google Maps on the display but It was not listed as an app when you scroll through. Anybody been able to get google maps to appear in car play? alcohenusa
Google maps works on my 2018 Fusion. I went into the phone settings and moved it to the main screen. Also, I noticed that for both of my sync cars, the upgrade disabled the bluetooth show notifications setting. Once I turned it back on, I could receive text messages with no problem. gordonf238
Waze and Google Maps work miraculously well on iOS 12 and CarPlay. Sync 3 displays them both with such smooth frame rates. Unfortunately, my phone no longer pairs via Bluetooth, and my Sync 3 won't remove and repair. In fact, I'm unable to delete any of the phones period. I tried updating Sync 3 software today via Wi-fi, but only get error messages. Tried alternatively to use USB (exFat, 32Gb), but get error LST_ERR05. Funny how we went from troubleshooting our computers to troubleshooting computers in our cars. Just don't feel like dealing with it. Will let the Ford dealer figure it out. MHOsborn
Just an update to my original post.... I've not seen any serious bugs with iOS 12 <--> Sync 3, but am still disappointed that CarPlay doesn't work sometimes in my 2017 Edge Titanium. Plugging the phone in and CarPlay not starting happens all too often. Usually, the only way to resolve it is to pull over, shut the car off, and restart. I can confirm Google Maps works fine....not having Waze installed, I can't comment on that.
Jeff Price
Running IOS 12 on an iPhone 7+. Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze all work fine. In fact I found out you can run Google Maps and Waze at the same time. Google on top and Waze will pop in with its notifications. My car is now a 2018 Fusion Energi. I know your post is a few months old but I had problems with CarPlay in my 2017 Ford Edge and the only thing that made it work was to do a Master Rest of the Sync3 system. That removes all phone pairing and phonebooks from the Sync3 system. Then you re-pair the bluetooth to your phone and then CarPlay.
