Paul Spinks
Hi, I've only had my car for the last 4 weeks. It is a Focus ST (UK) and is fitted with the Sync 3 system, inc navigation. I've only done 3 journey's where I have been driving for longer than 2 hours, and in each case the Navigation has frozen about 1.5 hours in. I first notice that the map begins to skip about, then I stop moving on the map altogether. The screen between the dials starts to add and remove the next instruction repeatedly. Other functions of the system work ok, e.g I can move to radio or settings, etc. The one time I tried to interact with the navigation system by cancelling the route it hung permanently on "Cancelling route" until I could get to a services, turn off the car, lock it for 10 minutes and restart it. This is a major disappointment for me, before I start the probable nightmare of taking the car to a dealer, has anyone else had this issue? I already tried a Master Reset between journey 2 & 3, but it made no difference. Thanks, Paul.
NOTMY911
Paul, Congratulation, the ST should been fun to drive around town and the counties. No idea but as the Sync 3 is relatively new it got its share of glitches. Are you on Ver. 1 or 2.2? Don't let become a major disappointment (not worth it). Have fun, JJ
Paul Spinks
Thanks JJ, I'm on version 2.2. I really like the SYNC 3 system overall - I just don't want it to freeze up on me! Other than this issue the car is fantastic. Paul.
Aldridge Andy
Hi Paul, I am experiencing exactly the same problems as you on a UK Focus ST with Sync version 2.2 Did you manage to get the problem fixed? Like you my navigation will just loose location and eventually "lock up" until the car is stopped and restarted. Annoyingly it happens on longer journeys when you would actually use the Nav function. My Sync 3 will fail on longer journeys regardless if the Nav is in use or not. Any feedback you can offer would be appreciated as my car goes in to my Ford Dealer tomorrow for a few days in hope of a fix.
Aldridge Andy
Well after 1 week at the Ford dealer my Focus was fitted with a new APIM as all tests proved that the GPS antenna were working fine. I've had one occurrence of "no GPS" with the new APIM which lasted the whole journey. I suspect that with Sync 3 v2.2 when the GPS signal in interrupted the screen correctly displays "no GPS", but when satellite connection is restored the message is not cleared. Once I've done a couple of longer journeys I'll have an idea if the new APIM offers a fix for my car.
daveyonthemove
Hi all, UK ST3 driver with Sync 3 problems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiOeug_EmxU I have also had the problem with Navigation freezing and managed to find an update to version Sync 3.0 whilst waiting for an appointment with the dealer. The dealer had the car for 4 hours and did re-flash my Firmware and updated the navigation from version 2.0.444659 to version 2.39.500094. I've not had any issues with the navigation freezing since the update, but I haven't done very long journeys with it, yet. I have noticed that the speed limit indicator in the bottom right of the screen (on cars with Driver aid packs) is not a neat circle. A small issue, but hard to ignore once it's been seen. I've also now got an issue with the split screen close up view at roundabouts. Sometimes the orientation changes as you move around roundabouts, and it can confuse you and make you miss the exit or leave too early. If you know Swindon in the UK, you will understand how annoying that can be with the complex roundabouts that I'm not familiar with.

daveyonthemove
that issue is now resolved, and now I am on the 2nd 3.0 update the Nav seem's to be perfect (aside from the speed limit circle). Now I have to convince Ford to make an effort to fix the Android Auto Problem.
ShelbyGT350
so build 17276 worked to fix the problem?
daveyonthemove
so build 17276 worked to fix the problem? Yes, it seems to have. I'm doing a lot of miles over this weekend (starting in the next hour) so it will have plenty of time to play up if it is going to. So far it's been reliable since the update, so I'm confident it's fixed.

ShelbyGT350
thanks. that and also do you know how we can contribute sync 3 POI icon suggestions? im a contributor to HERE map creator for road updates, but POI was not possible through them Edited October 31, 2017 by ShelbyGT350
daveyonthemove
thanks. that and also do you know how we can contribute sync 3 POI icon suggestions? im a contributor to HERE map creator for road updates, but POI was not possible through them Unfortunately I don't know if it's possible. I have signed up to the Here Maps editor and it's not even live in the UK, just a registration screen. Really frustrating that I can't do a small bit to improve local area knowledge for others. daveyonthemove
dave a friend is looking for EU non-nav update for 17276, got any sources? I asked my contact and he responded: Inside is one small file that only checks if you have nav or non nav version i did not know that before. But that does not matter. The only one new file that this newer build has is this app package: JR3T-14G381-AJ. So you can delete all the files just keep this one and edit the autoilstall.lst accordingly: Just rename the head line like this: [sYNCGen3.0_ALL]
ShelbyGT350
thanks for the update dave regarding HERE maps creator, have you tried this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.here.mapcreator.mobile.newapp&hl=en
daveyonthemove
No i hadn't tried that. Unless Sync auto updates on connection it's probably not worth it as I won't pay for updates, and none have been offered anyway.
