I upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4. I had NO problems with 4.3, but it seems Ford urges one to update, so I did. BIG mistake. Now my voice commands for my phone book are not working right. I have called Ford sync support 3 times, and they say they are escalating to next level but will be 5 days before they get back to me BY EMAIL?? That is piss poor customer service. I will never install another update if they ever get this one working right. Anyone have 4.4 working correctly?

Not one person has gotten either 4.4 for basic or 3.8 for the mytouch system to work without issues. Im beating a dead horse here but as I have said before read thru the forums before you update your systems. I resorted to replacing my sync module with one from a junkyard that has an older version of sync on it and have not looked back. Supposedly 4.6 is around the corner and addresses the issues reported along with a couple of new things but I have not heard anything good or bad about it. When it becomes available, hopefully sometime before my vehicle enters the junk yard, Ill reinstall my sync 4.4 module and update it to see if what they say is true.

My SYNC 3.8 installation was pretty uneventful. The system is still hair pulling slow compared to my 2011 Ford Escape's navigation system (the Clarion one before MyFord Touch), but it's still working as it did before the update.

Sucks to hear about all the botched installations though.

If Ford was smart they would offer free updates to SYNC through dealers. In this way FORD could increase traffic through its dealerships and potentially generate additional sales of other products. Charging $100 to upgrade SYNC simply drives people away.

I updated to 4.4 Dec 2016, now my sync goes completely out every 6-8 weeks. I paid my deductible for my extended warranty in February to have it fixed the first time, dealership reinstalled software. April it goes out again, call tech support and was told it wouldn't be fixed till a software update was released, so I called Ford customer support to ask for a refund for the repair. Ford Customer support refuses the refund and insist there is no software issues. Was told they would talk with there engineers to come up with a fix, waited six weeks till I was contacted, Ford said they had the dealership delete the software and then reinstall. July it goes out again, Ford still claims its not a software issue, take it to the dealership. The dealership said Ford told them to disconnect the battery to force a hard reboot. Now I'm concerned that Ford has no intentions of honoring there extended service plan. Will find out in the next couple of weeks when the sync system goes out again.
