ralph7up
My 2013 Ford Escape with MFT had a button located on the steering wheel that would get me back to the home screen. My 2016 ford Escape with Sync 3 does not have that feature. Most of the time I can get back to the home screen with a single press of the "home" button on screen. However, there are some features when I seem to be required to press the "back arrow" multiple times to get to the home screen button (very distracting). Does anyone know if there is a voice command that would get me back to the home screen no matter where I am in a menu structure?
blankster
I was going to ask the same question for my 2016 Lincoln MKC and I saw your question out there - Seems like there is no answer. I find the lack of a "Home" verbal command very short-sighted.
NOTMY911
... I find the lack of a "Home" verbal command very short-sighted. Along with only 1 command for the Climate system with require to say: "Climate Temperature xx"... I guess they could not figure out how use of "temperature xx" only. FordIVTteam
Hey Everyone, Check out this link for a full list of voice commands for the SYNC 3 system: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync-3/setup/sync-3-voice-commands.html Cara
dannyg
I read in other groups there is no command for it. I just purchased a 2017 Escape Titanium and find it kind of aggravating to. A lot of voice commands but still have to hit the "home" icon on the very top left to get to the home screen. Also I noticed that the Sync 3 has a lot less voice commands than the old Ford Mytouch system had. I noticed that on some screens (most) that have a scroll option the command to "Next Page/ Previous Page" don't work. It works for my text message list but not on all screens that have a list option. I wish it was more like "google" on android phones. Real simple. I wish if you said "Radio" it would show you the radio screen, and than all the options on that screen were voice commands. It would be a lot simpler. Also for radio and Serius presets. There are 3 bands of 6 channels each you can program. If i'm on the radio screen I can see 6 presets listed but have to hit the "preset" button on the screen to change to the other 2 preset choices. I noticed I can use the steering wheel control to move left or right in that band, but no way to change bands unless I hit the button on the screen. It's like it has a lot of voice command features, but to go back, see home screen, or see what screen you gave a command to to be brought up you have to use the touch screen. If you find a list of "mytouch" commands from the old system there are about 300 commands it knows. The Sync 3 it's like there are only about 150 commands. In another forum the Sync tech people say it was done to "simplify" the system, and some features were "redundant" so they were eliminated in Sync 3 for 2017. It's confusing as to why there are "basic" commands" but the detailed options you have to use the touch screen for because it's not programmed in the system. I even have a Sync 3 book I downloaded from the syncmyride site for my vehicle. It says "audio on, audio off". "Audio on" works for me, but it comes on to a Sirius station that was not the last thing I listened to. "Audio off" command it turns on a Sirius radio station. The best thing to do is on your vehicle, go into the "complete list of voice commands" and for each app it shows what commands are available. Like "Navigation", Audio", "CD", etc..... Also the "go back" command is recognized, but it puts on a Sirius radio station. I have to hit the "back button" on the screen. Im just concerned that they do updates and make corections to the system as time goes on and don't just "outdate it" like the mytouch system to something new. It should be where they can continue updates and improve instead of considering it obsolete 2 or 3 years from now.
NOTMY911
Yes, yes and yes... My MKX 13 was much better. Even her accent is kind of ridiculous, you sure you want to cancel the "rouuuuuuute?". When it comes to try to set a destination, usually the conversation end-up with "go to hell" (not exactly). I wish I was kidding. I guess I got spoiled by the Japanese way back in 2006... Perfect voice, she understood everything never had to repeat. I know Cara is trying her best but this has to be the most disappointing feature of a $65K+ SUV. Really, Climate Temperature xx. Why do I have to say "climate" the access the only command there is. I guess if I say temperature xx it could be mistaken for setting the Tire temperature, Engine temperature or the Outdoor temperature. Just plain idiotic. However, there is NO VERBAL COMMAND to get back to the home screen which was the question/observation. I gotcha. I did some further research and that is correct; there is no HOME command. You'll have to continue pressing the HOME icon when wanting to go back. Should I mention the social site again LOL? Cara
blankster
Well is there a reason why we don't have that command? Or is it going to make it to the "todo" list because I also find it to be a pain while driving?

I am pretty sure I have mentioned it in response to a similar message that I posted on another board. As I told Shaay, I find the Ford Social site to be of minimal value. It is hard to navigate and there is no feedback for suggestions/contributions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this feature does become available in future updates, I'll be sure to keep you all in the loop! Cara asteele

asteele
I have tried my own suggestion, which I should have done before posting! - and it doesn't work - sorry! I then spent ages trying everything I could think off, but failed to find an instruction that worked. I have now built a list of possible commands and have been going through to see what works for me and what I might use... will have to keep a small reference card in the door pocket for a while so I can remember them all

You might try a "What can I say" voice command and see what you get at various stages.
dannyd17
I do have one suggestion. Instead of pressing the back button several times to exit a menu and finally pressing the "home" button, you could press one of the bottom menu buttons and then "home". May save someone a few screens and some frustration.
Multitask
Because you can say Destination Home to go 'home' Maybe a MENU HOME command.
