Silverknight Posted April 12, 2012 Report Share Posted April 12, 2012 As I've said before, the folks who designed this system obviously don't use it in their day-to-day lives. I've been sitting on my update for three weeks, not having had time to do this. It seems that, from the comments, the efficiency and workflow of the user interface has taken a few steps back, while functionality and speed are better. I might wait until there's a minor update (like putting the temp back) available at the dealer before I install (I've had minor issues, but nothing major). Or maybe Ford will keep sending me updates and I'll get a new one ( a Vx.1), especially since the new warranty doesn't go into effect until the update is installed (and I don't remember if there's a cut-off date for user installation). I was waiting for the upgrade to be released for a while now. Downloaded the upgrade from the website to a USB flash drive, performed the update which lasted approximately 40 minutes and here are my impressions for the past two days: Like: Speed, responsiveness and the smoothness of the new system. Compass in Info Dislike: No outside temperature in MFT main screen. Album Cover Art smaller than previous in Entertainment. Play/Pause buttons are too big in Entertainement. No red track lapse bar in Entertainement. Only in right cluster screen. Audio sources buttons on the left side are too big in Entertainment. What are your thoughts about the upgrade ? I don't like them taking the outside temp setting off the MFT screen either. Also, the compass reads wrong here. We have North/East, not East/North as an example. Agree with all your observations. The shuffle mode does not work unless you command it to play something (playlists, certain artists, etc.). ddemers Posted April 24, 2012 Report Share Posted April 24, 2012 Ok so had it for a few days now, found few bugs in first day... 1) ETA on Nav can't seem to do basic math 2) Selecting an address from the contact list synced from my phone still says "invalid address" - clearly it's not invalid... Even the error message has a spelling mistake in it. 3) Can't add previous destinations to favorites list in the nav If I can find 3 in about 20 min, there are probably more like 30... If they paid me $0 and asked me to test it I could have reported these bugs prior to a mass distribution. Oh well, at least the things which are fixed make a dramatic improvement. But why the show all system information over the picture I use on the screen? I prefer to see only the picture on the screen. Also, since I'm french speaking, they translate all information, which it is fine, But on the compass, they did not translate West for Ouest. I called Detroit and they said I had to go to the dealer. It took the dealer two days to get it working (but they did pay for a rental car). When I went to pick up the car, the system crashed again and it took a technician at the dealership to reboot it. A week later, it is still working. First impressions: positive: much faster response, much better voice recognition, more intutive when it comes to voice commands. negative: no outside temp on the middle screen, and it is so dim and small on the left driver's screen, it is almost impossible to see. lawlorg Posted June 26, 2012 Report Share Posted June 26, 2012 I installed the update back in late March when I received it in the mail, initially everything looked good it fixed the vast majority of my problems (and there were many). Everything worked better for about 2 months. Since then however the Sync system is reverting back to it's old ways. Voice command button is very sluggish, when it does pick up it takes forever to execute the command. This extremely frustrating as the whole system goes into lock down mode and you cannot use anything. Now my phone goes into Privacy mode at will and won't let me answer the call or if it does it shuts off the sound and mic, real useful. The radio has begun having a mind of it's own again (switches to a country station at will, I think this car was programmed by someone from Nashville and this is their cruel joke). The list of problems goes on and on. I have had to resort to the old complete system reboot to get the Sync system working properly for a while, this only lasts for about 3-4 weeks then it starts back it's old ways. I have to run with the Nav SD card out or else everything locks up and the Sync system gets even slower (not that much of a hardship since the Nav system is pretty crappy anyway). Been back to the dealer several times and their response is that the software is the latest and there is nothing they can do. Very helpful!!!!!!!!! Bottom line I have leased this Lincoln MKX and when the lease is up in a 16 months I will be looking elsewhere for a new vehicle, I will never buy another vehicle with Mytouch anything installed (also if I see Microsoft on any part of the vehicle I will run, run, run).
