johnmsch
Got an email from Navteq about the new version of maps. Ordered the DVD and received it last week. Its labeled "FLM Navigation System/North America/Map Release 9P". I have been through the F-150 Owners Manual and the Sync Navigation manual, but there is no mention of how to install the new version. I sent an email to Navteq, but they said that they don't support the navigation hardware and that I'll have to go to the dealer. Anyone know how to install this? Thanks

frpda205
did you pay $199 for it?
johnmsch
Full instructions are in the manual that comes with the DVD update I wish! The instructions are for the 2007-2009 Navigation systems. No reference at all to the 2010 model.
johnmsch
did you pay $199 for it? Yes, and they were running a free shipping special.

You may have the wrong update then. I'm pretty sure 2007-2009 units are dvd based and in 2010 the update is installed on the hard drive and requires a 16 digit unlock code Edited December 22, 2010 by 909user
lmartin2
Were you able to install the update? I'm assuming that the 2010 Expedition would have the same nav system as the F-150. My install worked fine. The manual was inside the case with the DVD's. Took 3 hours. Don't know why but the car must me running for the first part of the install (5%). The procedure. 1) With the car running insert the Disk 1 in the drive. 2) A screen will be displayed asking for the 12 digit product code. (Came in a email as part of the confermation) 3) The install started and was pretty straight forward. I started it before a 45 minute trip and at the end of the trip it was about 10% complete. I turned the truck off and it continued to install. after about 2 hours I checked it and it was asking for disk 2. You have to manually eject the disk to change disk. Good luck Gene

Good luck Gene Thank you so much for the info, but its now looking like Navteq sent me the wrong update disc. The one I have has only 1 disc, and the label on the disc/case is "FLM Navigation System/North America/Map Release 9P". What does the label on yours say? Also, did you order this map update directly from Navteq? Do you have the part number? Thanks again! My 2009 KR nav unit requires the disc to be in at all times. And it is looking like Navteq sent me the wrong disc. Its the same one that I got for the KR. ricardorey
Hello friends, I'm from Brazil and new in the forum. Here in Brazil we have no information about SYNC. I own a Ford Fusion V6 and I´m very pleased with the system, however, Ford has not shown any interest in updating it to Portuguese language and either update your maps for Latin America. Here the GPS is not operational. The forum here know now that this is a Navteq. Someone tell me if it would be possible update system for maps of Brazil? Thank you!
