Upstream
I am trying to connect my LG VX8350 phone, but Sync keeps thinking it is a bluetooth audio device (the VX8350 is a phone which can also be used as an MP3 player). It connects fine as an audio device, and I can play the music on the phone, but I can't make phone calls. I have deleted the phone from the Sync Bluetooth Audio list, and have done a master reset from both the phone and audio menus. But everytime I try to pair the phone with Sync through the Sync phone menu, it connects as an audio device. Any suggestions?

The only issue was it knocking me off the SYNC after one minute if I didn't physicall press OK on my phone to accept the automatic Phone Address book update. I finally told SYNC to only do Manual updates and fixed that problem. Check your Phone's Bluetooth menu and check if it has everything enabled properly. Not sure what else. Upstream
OK, I managed to get my phone to connect properly to Sync. I don't know why it didn't work before, but it worked after I did a master reset on Sync and turned off my phone, removed the phone battery, then reinstalled the battery and turned on the phone. I guess there was something in the phone which got reset when I removed the battery. It seems to be working well now. As Larry notes, you have to turn off automatic phonebook downloads with this phone. Also I discovered to disconnect a call you have to press and hold the phone-hang-up button on the steering wheel for a few seconds. If you just press and release the button, it doesn't end the call.
