entering voice-mail passwords

Recommended Posts

hi all,

I have a contact called "voice-mail". when I tell sync to "call voice-mail" it does exactly that. My voice-mail system then asks for my voice-mail password I have assigned. How can I get sync to then dial in the 4-digit number of my voice-mail system so I can get my voice-mail messages?

Can it be done manually via the radio buttons? if so - how?

Can it be done with a voice command? if so - how?

I've check on syncmyride.com for istructions on how to do this but have had no luck finding the procedure.

thanks -Roy

I've never figured out a way. It may be possible to use the radio buttons, but only if you are in park. And then I'm not sure.

I'm on Verizon, and what I do is add my password to the dialed number, using a comma for a 2 second pause. This way the password is entered automatically.... 309-555-1212, 1234

I tried doing that and it only works when I call my voicemail from my phone directly, but when I say "call messages" it dials the voicemail number but ignores the next four numbers even though they're programmed in there. And if I have to manually enter them while driving of course that kind of defeats the whole purpose! And that whole thing with the "enter tones" and having to scroll/dial around to put them in is even worse. So I guess I just can't check voicemail unless I want to handle the phone itself.

Perhaps I'm over simplifying things, but if you check your voice mail before you enter the car, then you should never need to check it while driving. Unless you often ignore incoming calls and let them go to voice mail.

Tell me you're joking! - I could over simplify further and say that if you'd just postpone phone calls until after your drive, listen to the musical sound of the wind passing by, and bundle up warm in winter you would not need any of the center stack systems in this car.

A system like this should handle voice mail checking - I expected it to be a no brainer and can't understand why Synch does not seem to do this easily if at all.

And I would have expected most people who post here to get the name of the product correct... Sync not Synch.

And really the easy solution is to simply modify the voice mail entry in your contact list to add a pause and then dial the password as well. At least that works for Verizon.

Perhaps you have never received a call that went to voice mail while you were on another call. I say that a solution needs to be found because this is a real problem.

Technically it would be very easy to implement. So my guess is that it is a legal issue. No dialing while driving... Big Bothter is watching you. There are many things the Sync system doesn't allow while you are driving.
