Dreadnought
Hello. Like the title says, I was wondering if there was a list, or failing that, whether anyone has personal experience with "old style" flip phones that work well with Sync 3 on a Lincoln MKZ? In my case, the version is SYNC 3.4 21194. Not looking to do anything fancy (kind of obvious I guess, since I'm using a flip phone). Just want it to link with Bluetooth, stay linked, and download contacts (and make calls). So far I have tried four phones. My oldest phone works great. Unfortunately it was 2G and no longer works with Verizon's network (or anybody else's either). Of the 4G phones I have tried, only one has worked decent in terms of Bluetooth connections (an "ETalk Kazuna") but that phone is such a dog otherwise that I'm looking to replace it. Tried a Nokia 2720 a couple years ago. It would link OK, but would disconnect from Bluetooth after I made one call, every time, thus necessitating a reconnect. Also had a "TCL Pro" that frequently would not call out and would partially freeze the SYNC display and make using unrelated voice commands impossible. Also was hit or miss in terms of downloading contacts. That phone was a real piece of trash. So.....looking for phone suggestions, or hints as to operating system, etc. on these types of phones that play nice with SYNC 3. Thank you. Where are you located? The information I find states that if you want to check your phone’s compatibility with SYNC 3, see your phone’s manual or visit the phone manufacturers website. If I find any other information, I will post back. In the meantime, my thoughts/advice would be to purchase a more modern smartphone. Perhaps another member will have more detailed information and jump in to help. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
CCoons
I am in the same boat trying to find a phone for my father-in-law. His Verve Snap worked great from Consumer Cellular but unfortunately they are no longer made and their 'newer' flip phone doesn't download contacts. I was hoping you might still check this old Post and see if you were successful finding anything for a flip phone
Dreadnought
Hello. No, I haven't been able to find one that works well with SYNC. Mine won't download contacts either, unfortunately. I'm actually now using the TCL Flip Pro that I posted about. I've at least gotten it so that it doesn't freeze up SYNC anymore by uninstalling it completely from SYNC and reinstalling it. So maybe there was an update either to SYNC or the phone's operating system that fixed that problem? I'm not sure. But the TCL Flip Pro now won't download contacts, the same as your Father's phone. I had an E-Talk Kazuna phone prior to the TCL Flip Pro that was provided free to me by Verizon when they upgraded to 5G. That one linked OK and did download my contacts. But unfortuantely I dropped it and it broke. Also it had really terrible reception. Sorry to hear about the Consumer Cellular phone having similar problems. I was considering trying them in the hopes that their flip phones might work better than Verizon's. But apparently not I guess? One thing I've noticed: the two phones that had the most problems with SYNC, the Nokia and the TCL Flip Pro, both used the KAI OS operating system, whereas the "E-Talk Kazuna" that was more compatible with SYNC used some version of Android, so I wonder if the problems have something to do with KAI OS. Wish I could have given you a happier answer, but there you have it. Probably going to try some flip phones eventually that Verizon makes available to business customers to see if they work better.
