jackramsey
I always put the zipped files both in the root of the thumb drive and the install files in the "SyncMYRide" directory. (learned this the hard way) Update on stock no modifications vehicle: I updated my 2016 Edge SEL with Navigation, by downloading off the SYNC website. it as usual, errored out and barked, and took too many hours, told me to pull the USB, I waited at least 10 min longer, THEN pulled the USB and a few reboots later, states completed, error, and upon a second flashing came up properly and stated 3.020204. I went to upload the SYNC XML file, and the website stated "your software is up to date" 2016 Lincoln MKX Premier with updated 2019 Ford EcoSport APIM in it: I noticed on the download with the original MKX VIN, the file came down as the same name (with a (1). So I wrongly assumed the files would be the same and just removed the written XML file from the EDGE thumb drive and updated the Lincoln software, it stated completed, I again waited another 10 minutes, pulled the USB and rebooted, errors and all, with it stating still 19205 build. This is when I discovered the lincoln non navigation file was 2.266 gig compared to 417 meg. I tried the new file, and it barked as "this software is not for vehicles with Navigation" or something like that, but upon reboot, everything looks like it works and it states 3.030204. I went to the Sync page to download the software from the 2019 Escort and it states, "Your SYNC system (SYNC3 v3.0) is up to date." I am assuming the ford SEL file probably did the update and just required multiple reboots to get there...
