Sync3 after build 19205 update not working with Android auto

Recommended Posts

Actually they are the same contents pretty much. Ford uses virtually the same hardware across all sync3 vehicles. I for instance used an f150 file to roll back to 2.2, seeing I am not able to find an actual Continental file from a Continental owner. Doesn't matter works perfectly fine. The cars' VIN and hardware then tells the software what skin it should load and which contents.

Yes I am in Europe.

Hi KnightSnake. Software and coding does not work under the same rules as "horseshoes and hand grenades". Close is not good enough.  And "Actually they are the same contents pretty much" is not the same as "the same". And your issues may be proof of that. If you have a Lincoln then you need to use the official version that Lincoln puts out for your particular vehicle and VIN. Not a version which is "the same contents pretty much".

Your SYNC does not work "perfectly fine". If it did, we would not be having this discussion about an Android Auto problem.???

And the situation is a bit confusing now, and it is hard to assist if there is an unofficial version of SYNC involved.

You did not post a link to the "Ford of Europe" website that you used. Is it safe to assume you did not download the correct/official SYNC update from Lincoln? It is impossible to tell at this point, but an educated guess would state that the SYNC update you downloaded and installed may likely be the basis of all your problems.

It would help if you post a link to the "Ford of Europe" website you used.

And please keep in mind that we are not trying to give you a hard time, we are only trying to help. ?

Good luck.

Trust me. The software is the same. I asked an official dealer to check for any other version that might be current in the US. The dealer said for the Continental build 19205 of sync3 is the current one. Regardless of the fact if downloaded from owner.lincoln.com or from the sync3 update section of ford.de the dealer confirmed the USA has the same build. After all like I said the European sync3 update site identifies USA cars by their VIN and spits out the appropriate software to download. Try it yourself... Here is the site I used https://www.ford.de/service/betriebsanleitungen-hilfe/ford-sync-bluetooth/karten-software-update#/

I personally would not say it's done... but that is up to you... ?

Can you check any other Continentals in your area and see if they are at 3.0, and see if AA works?

If they do, see what version they are on... might not be 19205 (but I could be wrong)

Is your nav?  I would think a continental would have it, but I don't assume....

Just for grins, I went to the German site above for my 2018 Fusion Platinum and was able to download 19025 using my VIN.  The downloaded zip file had a different name than our US site gives, but the zipped file structure, file names, sizes and date stamps were all the same.  I already have 19025 so I did not try to install it. The US site will never recognize my successful install reports (always tells me I have an update available) so I tried to report it on the German site with my original usb and got the successful response.  Both the US site and German site still say I need to download 19025.

Yes mine is a nav. There are no other Continental's in Europe. In total there are about 10 or so here. And I am talking Europe wide.

As for the files like I said (and as people can see now) the files are the same for all regions as it is VIN based. The only thing to keep in mind if you yourself did not retrieve the update from Ford. Pay attention to the fact if you install the nav version of the software or not. Mine was.

My APIM is not the one that my FFH came with (non-nav) , I got my new APIM that has Nav from a 2019 Mustang (it was at 2.2 when I got it, and updated to 3.0 soon after install).  It currently has 3.4 with the 1-18 maps, so what I downloaded would not work now.  ?

It was more to show what I would get if I was still stock... hehe
