2017 sle Ford edge
At 5000 miles my edge has only 4-5% left on its oil life, but my avalanche with big 8 cylinder has 35-37% after 5000 miles. Both vehicles are baby miles, NOT hauling anything , all blacktop driving. Just seems like 5% after 5000 baby miles, is inaccurate.
Multitask
Are you sure it as set to 100% when you got your oil changed?

In addition to what Multitask mentioned about the interval being set to 100%: Oil change intervals are based on time/mileage. When was your last oil change? A 100% interval is 1 year/10,000 miles. So if your last oil change was ~11 months ago, that would explain 4-5% remaining. Let us know more details.
2017 sle Ford edge
Good point, it was 1yr ago that oil was changed. Thanks, it was zeroed at oil change. But, the Avalanche gets about the same mileage @ 35-37%.

But, the Avalanche gets about the same mileage @ 35-37%. Hi 2017 sle. The oil change interval is 1 year/10,000 miles, whichever comes first, not just mileage. It wouldn't be very helpful if your Edge's Oil Life Monitor showed you have 35-37% left, when the reality is you need to change it within a month, because you are almost at 1 year...right? So if your actual mileage is lagging behind the 10,000 mile per year average, the oil life will display the percentage remaining by time, not miles. The Edge Oil Life Monitor also takes driving environment into consideration. Also...leaving oil that has less than 10,000 miles in the oil pan for 2--3-4-5 years (just an example) would not be a good thing, since it contains acidic compounds and other contaminants. Therefore, the Edge Oil Life Monitor tells you to change at 1 year, even if you have far less than 10,000 miles on that oil. Hopefully this explains it all a bit clearer. Good luck. Muzicman61
My Fusion Energi is spec'd at 2 years or 20,000 miles. I just had my oil changed last week, perhaps a bit early. I was at 25% on the monitor but only about 6,000 miles. My previous oil change was in July of 2018. Not sure what this topic has to do with Sync 3. ? NCEcoBoost
Since we own both a Ford and Chevy with oil life monitors, I can answer this with certainty. Both vehicles have low miles and spend a lot of time sitting. The monitor in the Ford is what is called "smart" and accounts for oil degradation over time, not just mileage. The Chevy monitor does not. After 3K miles, the Chevy is only down to 80%, whereas after the same miles, the Ford would be down to approx. 25%. I just change the oil in both every 4-5 months and ignore the monitors.
