minorg
Sync voice keeps going to "Playlist" when I say "Play Artist <name>. Is this common? I've tried to pronounce "Artist" differently, but nothing helps.
Muzicman61
Are you MP3s all properly tagged with Artist info? I believe Sync requires ID3v2 tag info, not ID3v1. Might check that.

minorg
I'm using iTunes AAC files not MP3, but not sure what ID3v2 or ID3v1 is.
Muzicman61
I'm using iTunes AAC files not MP3, but not sure what ID3v2 or ID3v1 is. I wasn't aware Sync supported AAC files. In fact, I really don't think it does. That might be your whole issue. Put some MP3 files on the device and see what happens then.

minorg
You're right. SYNC doesn't understand AAC. I converted some to mp3 and all is well. Now for the tedious job of converting 10000+ songs to mp3. Using AllMusicConverter which works pretty well. It seems SYNC doesn't understand which artist I'm saying, in fact it's wrong more than it's right. Do I need to convert all my songs on my ipod to MP3s and if so, how do I do that? I've just got around to playing with the USB input after having my Fusion Hybrid for 2 months. For Ipod folks remember that Sync is by Microsoft...so I have had great success with a "thumb" drive in the USB port and using Windows media player to sync the thumb drive. In media player there are a ton of options which Sync will display on the radio. I selected only the most useful ones such as, Song, Album, Artist, Composer. With Sync you have to use EXACT phraseology and for me there is just too much to remember. So I use the KISS principal. What is apparent to me is a twenty dollar thumb drive or a 64gig for a lot of money, is just as effective as my ipod classic. Gordy
Muzicman61
I've preached for a long time over at Sync My Ride that the thumb drive was the way to go and to put their iPods away. Besides, people will be a lot more ticked off when their iPod gets stolen than their thumb drive. It seems SYNC doesn't understand which artist I'm saying, in fact it's wrong more than it's right. Do I need to convert all my songs on my ipod to MP3s and if so, how do I do that? Yes. I've preached for a long time over at Sync My Ride that the thumb drive was the way to go and to put their iPods away. Besides, people will be a lot more ticked off when their iPod gets stolen than their thumb drive. I still swear by the iPod (mine is a Nano 4th gen). I've found I get a lot more control and info over the USB stick. The Stick seems a rather crude solution, but if it works what the heck.
