Aldridge Andy
For a new car in 2017 the map version is rediculously out of date. Major motorway junctions are incorrect or more recent interlinking roads simply missing.

Aldridge Andy
there is the 2.3 official release today at owner.ford.com So that would bring us up to date with the Sync3 version 2.3 that is shipped in the latest UK Ford Fiesta
ShelbyGT350
for UK I guess so, for NA there is a newer version not released yet that only comes in the 2018 expedition, version 3.

NOTMY911
Any idea what 2.3 includes/fixes? Are there any release notes? No idea even after reading "release note"... Their description in red below is just plain fuchen stupid. From the Lincoln website: What's included in this update? JL1T-14G381-AJ SYNC3 v2.3This software release is the latest update in our continued efforts to improve system performance, device connectivity, and the overall SYNC experience. This software contains all previous enhancements, so there is no need to install any other updates. The installation of this update will take up to 60 minutes to complete. DO NOT remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle. You must wait until Installation Complete is displayed on the center screen before removing your drive or turning your vehicle off. While the update is loading, SYNC will not recognize your mobile phone or media device. Be sure your vehicle engine is running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you initiate the installation process, once the download process has begun, you may drive your vehicle. punch-card
I think they are trying to say, one does not have to go from V1 and upgrade to v2.2 then upgrade again to V2.3, you can skip all previous intermediary updates.
Muzicman61
Sounds like their way of saying "bug fixes, nothing new here".
wharrell
My Ford Owner site shows an update available however the over the air update shows nothing available Fords technology continues to be virtually worthless, a huge fail and disappointment
pmbb68
Our Ford link indicated V2.3 was available. Downloaded to memory stick. Know that I can not use cell phone while download is in progress from memory stick to Sync 3 system, or Nav, etc. Also per release download can take up to 60 mins. , then per instructions must shut off vehicle for 5 mins then restart vehicle, and reinstall cell phone to Sync 3. Question: does anyone know if while download is in progress can the disk player be utilized.? Have 6 hr drive to make and was going to listen to book on tape while doing download. Thanks for reply. Thanks for reply. it doesnt work that way. if the update becomes OTA (over the air), it wont tell you if its downloading it or not, it always does it in the background making it hard to tell when its actually downloading or installing. so theres noway of tracking progress is what im saying. fastest way is to download it on a usb and install it as you're driving, takes only 19mins
pmbb68
ShelbyGT350 - thanks for the info. If only 19 mins or so that is good. have a nice day.

bnewt
updated my 2017 limited to 2.3 with no problems (thus far). don't see much of anything different
Muzicman61
I did notice since the 2.3 update I have started seeing pictures of artists instead of the embedded album art work. I'm guessing that it might be the Gracenote setting got re-enabled with the update. I had previously turned it off since it was offering me search results from my voice commands with songs I did not actually have on my USB drive. ShelbyGT350
maybe the 2.3 also had gracenotes database update
ClaveMan
I successfully performed the SYNC 3 v2.3 update today (upgrading from the original v2.0). Although this is surely old news, I thought I would share my experience. I logged into owner.ford.com and was "steered" to download file JL1T-14G381-AJ.zip I bought a 64GB USB stick off the shelf (preformatted to ExFAT) on Amazon for $17.86 Next I unzipped this file and took a peek at one of the unzipped files, autoinstall.lst. I found this line at the top SYNC3 Consumer Assembly Upgrade - Release 2.3.10 - Only for MY 17 Nav/NA assemblies. Looks like this file is only for "Model Year 17" Ford vehicles? Does this imply there are many versions of the v2.3 release for different Ford model years, countries, and/or models? (I don't know, just curious). Here are a few notes from my experience. I made sure to start the vehicle as directed and never turned it off until the end (when I let it sit for 5 minutes, after turning off the vehicle, opening/closing the door, and letting the display shut down). No macOS allowed. Even though I properly formatted the USB drive to ExFAT and loaded the unzipped files correctly, attempting to use the mac loaded USB stick in my vehicle failed immediately every time with this message: Installation Failed Error Code: LST_ERR05 If error, please note code and contact 1-800-392-3674. I believe the issue was SYNC 3 O/S "choking" on some hidden directories macOS places at the top level of any drive: (.Spotlight-V100 and .fseventsd). I then used Windows 10 to format the USB drive ExFAT and loaded the files without problem. After loading the USB stick there was ZERO acknowledgement on the SYNC3 display of me inserting it. I sat there for 10 minutes as nothing happened. The light on the stick pulsed - on for one second, then off for one second. It was all I could do not to go crazy. Then the pulse stopped and the light stayed on then off and on in non-regular fashion (good). Suddenly, just as I was about to give up, at the top of the display this appeared: Updating System Software...This went on for 10 minutes or so and then I got Installation Complete You may now remove your USB device. Updates will take effect the next time you start your vehicle At the end of the day I have not noticed any difference between v2.0 and v2.3. (I went from Build 16074_PRODUCT to 17109_PRODUCT) The versions for Gracenote and Navigation Maps did NOT change (?) The value before and after are shown here: Gracenote Version: 1.1.1.806 (NA-0010). Navigation Maps Version: NA 1 15 Edited November 18, 2017 by ClaveMan
