pmbb68
I updated my wife's 2016 Edge SEL to 2.3 yesterday. Just be sure you click the shut down for the memory stick indicator in the lower right side of computer screen before you remove your stick. Placed memory stick in auto, radio/Nav( continued to work ,Ford instructions said you would have blank page), and after about 3-4 mins note across top of screen "System download in progress". Only required about 15 mins to complete, then message indicating system would reload the next time vehicle was shut down and restarted. Edge was shut down about 30 mins while I was in store, then after car started the system booted right up and it is a go. At no time did any function of the radio or Nav stop per instructions from MY Ford Owner web site. Also, web site indicated you would need to reload your cell and phone book - not so in my Edge. So, no problems.

Muzicman61
I know. I just find the Nav in the vehicle to be so lame I still use my Garmin. My biggest use of a GPS is for my ETA and the Nav system is so inaccurate I can't rely on it.

photojon
Great thread. I am trying to update my 2016 Focus Electric from version 1.1 to the lastest. I have gone to the owner.ford.com site, and requested my update. It says they will email me link when the dowload is ready. I get the email, but am not able to get any files to download. Has anyone else recently been able to download an update to their comuter? Edited December 17, 2017 by photojon

photojon
Thanks for the quick response. Those are the steps I am following. I get to the step to download and update. (The webpage has changed a bit since this video was made) After clicking the box that says download an update, there is a popup that says they will notify me by email when my update is ready for download. This is about a 40 minute wait. I get the email which directs me back to the page where I requested it only there is nothing to download! Step 1 is request download, Step 2 where I am suppose to download update to my computer (the one referenced in the email I receive) has no action available, (IE, no links, not download, nothing). Step 3 is move from computer to thumbdrive, and so on. I am stuck at Step 2 with nothing to dowload. Cheers SimonB64
photojon
Just finished a "Chat" session with the people at Sync Support. The representative informed me that their computers have been down for over a week! I asked for an email address where I could express my concerns and received the reply " I apologize, but we no longer have an email for direct customer contact. What I can do for you to is to submit feedback on your behalf letting Ford know if your dissatisfaction." Really? Do they not care what customers think? Muzicman61
If you want piss poor customer service try buying tickets for a concert through Ticket Master. Good customer service is darn near a thing of the past. Except for the "bud tenders" in Seattle.

ben senise
if anyones looking for official 2.3 updates for MY16,MY17, nav, non-nav units, can use the link below https://www.4dtech.com/software-updates/ "Part numbers determined by removing the module and looking at the part number on the white sticker." where is this module? is taking it out the only way to determine the part number? Edit to add: i found the 3.0 update and will do that instead. Edited December 29, 2017 by ben senise

cantaloop
I saw a picture of a Sync 3 with Build 17307 on it yesterday in a Polish forum. Has anyone this version to download?
DavesUkEdge
if anyones looking for official 2.3 updates for MY16,MY17, nav, non-nav units, can use the link below https://www.4dtech.com/software-updates/ I followed the above link, and using the "Conversion Kits" drop down menu from this website, found an option to convert from Sync 2 to Sync 3. Has anyone any tried this yet, as am looking at converting my current Sync 2 to Sync 3 myself, but am wondering if this would open up a can of worms for me. Also as I live in Uk and my car is a RHD Edge Titanium with Lux Pack option (as built for British market) would this even be possible? wjbultema
Does anyone have any information on when the Sync 3 update page will be fixed? I keep getting a "system error" message when I click on the request download button. Been like that for over 2 weeks. Want to update the Sync 3 in my F-150 XLT and I cannot get anything to download. Did a chat session a week ago with Ford Help and they said they were aware of this issue, that it affected all ford owners, and their IT people were working on the problem. DavesUkEdge
hi Dave arent all the RHD cars in UK have the same SYNC3 as LHD cars in NA? Hi ShelbyGT350 My car currently has Sync 2 (being a 2015 build) even though I purchased it in 2016, this is why I am looking at possibly upgrading. Also, as this website is based in the USA (presumably as priced in Dollars) and knowing USA to be a LHD country, am not sure if there would be any differences or not (though thinking in hindsight probably not), hence my questions? Happy New Year to yourself and anyone else who may read this. Dave
RonRN18
Ford OM initially came out claiming updates can be done via WiFi but only the very first sync 3 update was able to update via WiFi, it took many days to download it in small bits, later ford said it was much faster for owners to just download onto usb and get it done in 20mins. the wifi updating was cumbersome because it didnt provide a progress bar or any indication as to whats downloading, people got pissed off and went to dealerships for updating.. I got no notification when my system upgraded automatically via WiFi from Sync 3 v1.0 to v2.2, I just noticed one day that it had. I have a 2016 Ford C-Max Energi. I then changed out my USB hub to one compatible with Apple CarPlay. Now, it has not updated from v2.2 to v2.3, nor can I download the file to update it manually. Yesterday, I just bought a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum (for my wife) and it came with v2.3 on it. I have not had enough time to notice any differences yet, as it is my wife's car and it was purchased yesterday.
