Sync and 2011 F150

Recommended Posts

Anyone having trouble finding a basic phone that is compatible with Sync? Today I have gone to Verizon and Ford three times each with new purchased basic phones from Verizon (where I have a two year contract now). I contacted Ford Service after the first two phones my husband had used the last 4 weeks quit working. They gave me a list (dated 1-/25/10) with phones that should work. Well, the list was outdated and those phones were not available so I called Ford back. They gave me a few names of LG phones (Octane and Cosmos being the two I purchased today). Well, the Octane would not connect and they told us we must have a lemon phone so we went back to Verizon and they tried another one. Did not work. We then bought the Cosmos which was recommended by Ford. Well, guess what? Did not work. I did try my IPhone that I use and it connected, but my husband does not need or want the Smart Phone since he will not use the features on it and I cannot see paying for features for 2 years that will not be used just because Ford and Sync are not fixing their compatible issue with as they call them candy bar phones. Has anyone else had problems and found a solution for a compatible phone from Verizon. I have seen notes on other sites that AT&T phones were successful as well as T Mobile, but I have a contract with Verizon. Thanks so much for any help you can offer

I happen to use a DROID X from Verizon. Initially, I had trouble at the dealership trying to sync it up. I checked on the web and found a SYNC "chat". The agent I chatted with gave me the following instructions. I did it and it was successful. Here they are ...........

(this is copy/pasted from an e-mail to my salesperson)............. I kept pursuing a solution and wound up with a "chat" window with a SYNC person at Ford. He gave me a set of instructions that were slightly different than what we tried and what was in the "user guide". Nothing major, but it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's what he told me to do .............

  1.
  2. Press the phone button to access the phone menu
  3. Scroll to Add Device and press OK
  4. It will say "FIND SYNC" and begin giving instructions. Instead of following the instructions, scroll up or to the left one space
  5. It should then say FIND DEVICES
  6. Press OK with the phone in discoverable mode, and SYNC will find the phone
  7. Select <your phone> from the list of nearby devices and press OK
  8. It will ask for a PIN
  9. Say the PIN as if you were giving a command. It (SYNC) will repeat it back to you. I used 0000 (--- those are zeros)
  10. Press OK
  11. Your phone will ask for a PIN number. Enter the same one as above
  12. After pressing OK or Enter on the phone, they will attempt to make the connection

Once connected, SYNC asks if you want to download your phone book. Continue from there following the prompts on the radio. Set as primary etc..........

I hope this helps you out.
