Edgy one Posted April 3, 2011 Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 So we fell in love with the Ford Edge and bought one Dec. 11, 2010. It is a 2011 Limited AWD and after two days the Sync and whole My Ford Touch quit. Black screen. So when we returned home from our trip we had a recall notice for the Body Control Unit and promptly took our Edge back to the dealer. Well they had it for TWO weeks because they could not get the Sync to update. Result was a New APIM computer and fresh update. After we got our Edge back we recieved another Recall (a month later) for the same BCU saying the first recall did not test what needed to be tested. So back to the Dealer. When I picked up our Edge after a week again, I was told that they had to install another APIM computer as the last one would not accept the latest update. I was mad because I told them not to touch the SYNC. Even though it wasnt working right. (goes bright, dim, radio controls dont always work and faviorites go away and the dash lights go bright and dim even though auto dim is turned off. And the back up sensors and camera do not always work) So The Dealer installed the following updates. Sync Version: Gen2 - V2.7 BT4T-14D546-AL BT4T-14F496-AN BT4T-14F497-AL SYNC compatable software BT4T-14F500-BE BT4T-14F603-AL And since these were updated everything has gone wrong. The screen blacks out randomly, phone quality is terrible, the SYNC wants to continually run a health check even though the web site shows there is not one due because it was done two days ago. Random phone disconnect from SYNC and all the above happens more frequently than ever. It is almost like our SYNC is posessed because we never know if the SYNC will respond when the voice activation button is pushed. Oh, The best thing. If I want to change stations on the SAT. Radio and push the button on the steering wheel. The Sync says who do you want to call and there is no changing her mind. And now I learn that this was a bad update and there is one coming to fix all this? I am beginning to wonder? On the bright side, when it works right wich it sometimes does it is a wonderful system.
