dkrapf
Hey, I bought a 2011 Ford Fusion about 3 months ago. Sync worked completely fine up until a week ago. I have and connect my Droid 2 over bluetooth. One night it worked, then I went to the car then next morning and the Sync doesn't recognize my voice. I press the Voice button and it says "Sync please say a command". No matter what I say it doesn't recognize it and after a few seconds it says please say a command and lists my options. Any suggestions or anyone else had this problem? Chipb

dadofaayan
I, too, have a 2011 Ford Focus. I was using a BB Storm 1, and just switched to a Droid X. I've had the same problem with both phones, and I've only had the car a little over a month. The first time was exactly like you describe... It asks for a voice command, and never "hears" anything. Today, it went out, and It doesn't even say anything, now. I can still make calls manually, and they come over the speaker, but SYNC will not accept commands. dzikakis
I am having the same problem with a 2011 Fusion Hybrid. I've tried screaming, whispering, and speaking in a normal voice - nothing. Then, just as mysteriously the next time I am try, it works fine. Argh! aslsigner
I just bought the 2011 Taurus with Sync and it's NEVER recognized my voice when I want to dial or call someone by name. It recognizes when I say "dial" or "call" but when I use someone's name, it has come close but never gotten it right. Once I asked to call Bob, and it asked if I wanted USB. Does anyone have a solution other than it's been cold?
Muzicman61
Did your phone book succesful download into Sync? You can manually view your phonebook and double check that Bob is actually in there.

UB003
My 2011 Flex reconizes anyones voice. However, the mic is on the drivers side of the overhead. I have never had a problem. One funny thing about Sync, you have to say the person's name just as it is entered in your phone book. If the name is entered "Mary Jackson" you must say that not just "Mary". I can say a name followed by "home", "moblie" or "work" and Sync will dial my phone. See if that's the problem.

snerze
Same problem here. Was working fine till this morning. Neither phone will work and a hard reset does nothing. I just got a 2011 Focus and same problem - fine for one day then it stopped. However, if I manually go to services it WILL recognize my voice for directions, favorites, etc. once I'm in services. bbourque
henderx
Has there been any fix for the SYNC not being able to hear one's commands yet? I bought a 2011 Edge on 1/7, and it doesn't hear me or any of my family. Calling out on the phone works fine, but the SYNC service can't hear any commands at all. I asked someone at the Dealer the other day, but they just looked at us puzzled and didn't seem to have a clue about the not being heard problem! brianmundt
I'm having the same problem on my brand new 2011 Focus... It worked fine for a number of days after purchase, and then abruptly just stopped recognizing my voice. This is so frustrating, especially given that I've had my car for less than 2 weeks! Any solutions floating around out there?

I asked someone at the Dealer the other day, but they just looked at us puzzled and didn't seem to have a clue about the not being heard problem! I also have problems with Sync Services. It does not understand anything I say. Making phones calls is usually fine, but there are some instances where she doesnt understand a word I say. I think that the cold may have something to do with it as well, however I never had any issues with my 2008 Edge (I have a 2011 Edge now). And I live in upstate NY where it is cold for half the year!!!
fjwinter
I purchased a 2010 Mercury Milan Premier in early January. The only issue I am having is with voice recognition. Sync is deaf. I am able to dial out with the phone connection and receive calls without a hiccup no matter what the temperature happens to be. I am going to my dealer this afternoon to let them have a go at it. Maybe I am messing up but based on what I have read here, I think there is a software glitch and with Microsoft involved, it is more than likely the case. aprileve
2011 Fusion Hybrid. SYNC suddenly stopped recognizing commands. It hears when I ask for "phone" but doesn't hear any further. My phonebook shows up in the listing. Manually entered a phone #, says it is connected and the call is through, but I hear nothing. Spoke to a SYNC rep last month who had me do a master reset on the SYNC then reset my iphone. It worked then but may have been a fluke because it stopped again today and I reset both several times and while it says phone connected, nothing goes through. garret4009
Same problem here. Just bought a 2011 Ford Focus SEL two days ago and SYNC worked great. Today it won't get any of my voice commands right and its not cold here (Texas). Seems to be a recurring problem. Pretty frustrating.... Nate
I am having the same problems with making calls in my truck ive had for 1 week. Sync recognizes voice in any other menu but the phone one. My Iphone 4 os4.2 keeps disconnecting as well. Im going to try this fuse pull thing to see if it works. But does anyone know if I would have to reactivate the sirius, travel link services 6 mo trial?? It would be nice if a ford rep made a comment here. CCRGMac
...and yet another user here whose system has suddenly gone deaf. 2001 Escape, new in December - Sync worked fine up until earlier this week now I doesn't want to hear me at all. I thought a first that the mic had died, but I can receive calls and talk just fine. Colin Edited February 27, 2011 by CCRGMac

I thought a first that the mic had died, but I can receive calls and talk just fine. Colin As the name implies, I have his and hers 2010 SEL 3.0 Fusions plus a GT500, all equipped with Sync. My sync works great, Hers works great some of the time. The GT 500 is fine. When hers is not working correctly, it will not recognize voice commands. It will say, say a command...... It does not matter if she says phone normally, shouts it, whispers it, it does not work. I made an appointment with the dealer, took it in and they just said, well, it is working now, nothing we can do until it does it for us. Frustrated as I was, I was even more frustrated after driving 60 miles home and it did it again. Come on Microsoft, there is a glitch, how about an update fix. mcmahon.bj
joxer007
I have an Escape 2011, I got it Feb 25 2011 and voice was working fine for 2 days then just stop working. jabbatico
same situation. just got a mkz. the most important aspect of sync is hands free phone. seems to be the only thing that is not working. (USB does not seem to work in voice either). i did an on line chat with sync my ride support and they said restore to factory defaults. this actually worked for a while but then problem occurred again. i thought it was a function of when i used iPhone4 to stream music, but not sure. now restore does not work. going to go back to dealer with problem but hoping to see some solution here. i've read about pulling a fuse, but that too sounds like a temp solution. anyone??? louis147
I live in South Carolina. My Sync has worked great since November, and just now, the Blackberry constantly disconnects and reconnects and the dialing by name no longer recognizes any names I say. All other functions work fine on the sync system. It can't be cold related because my problem just appeared, and the weather has not been below 50 degrees. It reminds me of the old saying "a dog without bricks tied to it's head is like a computer without Microsoft."
