  1. Hi there, I'm a bit annoyed by Ford. Got a 2016 Ford Edge EU Specs and was delivered with Sync 2. I expected Sync 2 to be updated to allow the use of Android App but nope. Sync 3 was installed on 2017 Ford Edge in EU. Seems that Ford was not very fair with their European and Aussies customers by delivering cars with outdated Sync 2 until 2017 while US cars got Sync 3 since 2015. (maybe they had a stock of Sync 2 they wanted to get rid off). So can we expect one day an update that would allow the use of Android Auto on Sync 2 or should I get that off mine mind ? (FYI Mazda just release on update of their MZD connect to allow Android Auto and carplay). If not what are the other solutions available ? Does a hack exists ? Have ever tried Easyconnect ? Or Go for a class action against Ford cie for unfair commercial practise in EU and AU? Thanks Won't go for an upgrade kit, too expensive and not available in EU anyway.
  2. I have a 2017+ Ford Fiesta with Sync 3 and 8in touchscreen and a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone. I'm in the UK. Since buying the car in late October I've found some glitches in how the car and phone work together through Android Auto. For example: - Sometimes if I'm listening to Spotify via AA then make or receive a phone call, after the call the audio is coming only from the front speakers or goes to the radio rather than returning to Spotify - Sometimes when I connect the phone to the car via a USB cable the connection isn't made first time and I have to try again These aren't enormous problems but they're irritating. I wonder if how I connect the two could be to blame. So I have some questions: - Given that Android Auto works via a USB cable rather than Bluetooth, should I switch off Bluetooth entirely, or is it needed for AA to function? - What is the optimum sequence of events when connecting and disconnecting? Currently I switch on the car's ignition, wait for Sync 3 to start up and make a Bluetooth connection to the phone, then connect the cable. Most times (but not always), AA then starts up. When I leave the car I switch off the engine, then open the door so Sync 3 switches off, then when the screen is blank I disconnect the USB lead. Is this the right way to do it? Can the Sync 3 on/off switch be used in any way? Any tips on how to make the Sync 3 Android Auto experience glitch-free would be appreciated.
  3. I have a Verizon Droid Turbo and I have synced my phonebook. I only have 1 contact in it for my wife but everytime I use the voice activation to call her it asks me which phone number to use. I look at her entry in the contacts and it shows the same phone number twice. I cannot find another entry on my phone so I am confused as to how it is getting into the Sync addresss book twice. I just traded in my 2011 Edge and did not have this issue on it.
  4. Read this article on 9 to 5 Google: "Thereā€™s good news for anyone with a 2016-model Ford. The company has announced that a software update will allow its entire fleet from that year to use both Android Auto and CarPlay. Android Auto supports phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher." "Customers can update by downloading the software to a USB drive, visiting a dealership or over-the-air via a Wi-Fi connection." https://9to5google.com/2017/05/19/ford-android-auto-update/ I have a 2016 Fusion SE. When I go to owner.ford.com I canā€™t find any information on this update. It says I have Version: SYNC v4.6 from October 2015, and my SYNC is up to date.
  5. I drive a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with SYNC (not sure how to tell, it's just the basic one with no touch support). I updated my sync system to the latest version for it and since I've done that, I've noticed some nice additions that are welcomed but I have a new problem that is a tad annoying and left me confused on how its happening. I recently noticed that spotify is no longer showing up as a valid app (even though it should be) and the app Ford Owner shows up, but I don't have that installed anymore on my phone. it seems right after I uninstalled that app sync decided to just have a fit and not work in that regard anymore, furthermore the find mobile apps option does nothing, at all. I've done a master reset, a factory reset but no matter what Ford Owner is the only app that shows up and I'm beyond lost on why. I'm hoping there is a way to fix this as I rather enjoyed having spotify directly on the sync system, using bluetooth works but it isn't as nice and requires me to touch the phone if I decide to switch playlist.
  6. Hello, I'd like to pair my family's three Android phones (same make/model) to our 2012 Fusion and 2010 Edge (basic SYNC). According to the owner.ford.com website, the SYNC software is up-to-date in both vehicles. Phone A is paired to the Fusion as the primary device using a 6-digit PIN. Phone B is paired to the Edge as the primary device using a 6-digit PIN. Phone C can be paired to the Fusion or to the Edge as a secondary device, but only using a special PIN (0000). However, after pairing to one vehicle, the special PIN method doesn't work for the other vehicle -- it immediately reports that SYNC failed. If I unpair Phone C, it will then pair OK in the other vehicle. I know that Phone C is not defective since I've tried swapping it with Phones A and B in the above scenarios, and Phones A and B behave the same way. So, it appears that: (a) only one Android phone at a time can be paired to a basic SYNC system using a 6-digit PIN ( once an Andriod phone is paired to a basic SYNC system using a 4-digit PIN, it cannot be paired to another basic SYNC system using a 4-digit pin Could it be because the same PIN is always generated for the special PIN (reverse pair) method? Are there any workarounds? Thanks.
  7. Is it possible to use the 'address' found in my 'Contacts' on my Android phone, with the Navigation system ? For many years, I have used MS Outlook for mail and more. I use the 'Contacts' and address book, well, an "address book" not a lite phone book. I have proper names, emails, the home, cell, work numbers, and the complete mailing address in the "address book" in Outlook. And this is Sync'd to my Android phone. New to the Sync MyTouch have not been able to find the answer... Is the Sync Navigation system, able to use the Contacts and Address Book on my phone, to pull the street address for navigating? So far it appears it can not, looks lame and will only pull the phone numbers over. Is this a system setting, option, missing options? And if not, a direct work around? Geez would hate to manually type addresses in for locations, that are on my phone. ( yea I know how to get to grandma's house, but Traffic and Weather come in handy ) Frolin
  8. Last week I upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. The old iPhone worked beautifully with Sync in my 2008 Ford Focus, but I've been having some issues with my new Z3 when connecting via USB (bluetooth works fine, I just really want to be able to see song name/artist on the HUD instead of "Bluetooth Audio"). Sometimes the phone won't be recognized at all by Sync so I have to uplug and replug the USB cable in. Then when it does connect, it always takes a fairly long time to index. I would assume only the first index should take a long time and then subsequent connections should only update whatever has been changed, since that was how it worked with my iPhone. Then, once it's finally done indexing, if I click on 'Playlists', Sync tells me that there are no playlists on my phone even though I have several that play perfectly fine on my Z3's music players (Walkman, Google Play Music, doubleTwist Music Player). All of my music is stored in the 'Music' folder on my Z3 and the playlists are .m3u files. I am using the doubleTwist app to sync my playlists created in iTunes to my phone. Sync finds all of the music on my phone but it can never index the m3u playlists that are in the same folder. Also, sometimes it will find the playlists that the Walkman app creates by default, called 'Walkman Favourites', 'Walkman Recently Played', etc but I have o clue where those are stored on my phone and how Sync seesthose playlists but not the ones in my Music directory. I'm pretty sure the playlists are extended m3u's, but I've tried simple m3u's as well and those don't seem to work either. I'm stumped on this one.
  9. I have a 2015 Ford Fusion. My USB cord is not being recognized with my Samsung Galaxy note 3. How do I fix this. I want to be able to use all the features of my car and speak commands. My bluetooth recognized my device, but I can't use the voice commands. And when I have my phone charging through the USB, the alert keeps popping up on the screen which is also annoying saying that the USB device is not being recognized or something like that. Please help. Thank you.
  10. EVERY time I hang up a call on my HTC One my radio station is reset to 107.9. Very annoying as I take a lot of phone calls in my car and EVERY time I hang up its blasting this 107.9 station. I have taken my 2012 Focus ST back to the dealer three times and reloaded the software in SYNC. Who do I go to next to troubleshoot this issue...Sony, Sync, HTC, Android, Bluetooth? This is not my area of expertise and apparently not my Ford service department's or HTC VIP Service department's either. My other family members' phones do not cause this issue when they are sync'd and take calls in my car. weird. has to be my phone or my Sync
  11. Was having some issues connecting to bluetooth audio, did a master resest, now when I go to the Connect Bluetooth Devices screen, the "Add" button is no longer available, it is greyed out. Any idea how to get this back working? My original issue was that I could sync to bluetooth but only for phone calls, bluetooth audio for media wouldn't work any more, and my phone wouldn't let me select it in the bluetooth settings. I will worry about that again once I can connect the device to Sync.
  12. I have 2013 Edge with MFT, but no navigation. I am not much of a fan of the voice calling capability of it....it's way worse than android's default voice bluetooth calling app ("voice dialing" i think it's called) Add to that, that I've also got a voice assistant app (Dragon Mobile Assistant) which allows me to: get directions to anywhere send texts (which I think Sync still can't handle with all androids) have texts read (again, sync can't for my phone) create calendar reminders Long & short is, my dumb bluetooth headset is more capable than sync, because it takes advantage of my phone. Does anyone know of a way that sync can simply trigger my 'default' bluetooth call button app?
  13. One of the great features of an Android phone is how fast and easy it is to find places on the go using Google Maps. Unfortunately, when you have found a place you want to drive to, you have to re-type it or speak it to your SYNC navigation system to get directions in your car. I made an app called Send To Car to allow easily sending an address from Google Maps on your Android phone directly to the SYNC navigation system in your Ford or Lincoln vehicle. The app is free, open source and without advertisements. I'm posting this here because the ability of sending an address to my Ford car makes it even more awesome and I want other SYNC users to get that same benefit too! Download Send To Car from Google Play http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jvanier.android.sendtocar Enjoy! Julien Vanier Author of Send To Car
