  1. OP was asking about wireless CarPlay not how to use CarPlay
  2. Definitely understand. I know there are a number of other offline map apps, but usually if your system caches the map then you lose signal, it'll still continue your original route (unless it needs a reroute or new search)
  3. Good point. Additionally, if you download Maps.Me, it just got CarPlay support and has great offline maps with searching available while offline.
  4. I have the 19119 unofficial update files if you want. The official update is apparently 19149 but only released in Europe at this time. That's a huge pain. It should fix your issue. Waze or Google Maps are superior to the built in for reasons of newer updates, but if you're in an area that hasn't changed recently then it's all relatively the same. I also don't know if the built in accounts for traffic or not
  5. CarPlay gets location and speed info from the vehicle. The transit could possibly need an update to the sync software to enable CarPlay. Is it not showing anything when you plug the device in?
  6. Yes. AppLink is no longer supported by Waze and the experience with it sucks compared to CarPlay. A Sync 3.0 update was released a while back to include CarPlay for Sync 3.0 systems and it works well. Only thing is, if you have a 2016 MY (model year) then you'll have to upgrade your USB module (takes about 10-20 minutes). I picked one up online for about $30. Beyond 2016 they used Apple CarPlay certified USB port module so those are fine to use from the start.
  7. You don't have to disable CarPlay to use Waze. In fact, it works better with CarPlay. It works with the AppLink services, but Waze support staff has already said they are not supporting it anymore. I would assume in future versions of the app, that it will be disabled. Waze and Google Maps work better with CarPlay than without. I wasn't able to use Google Maps before I had CarPlay either.
  8. I'll confirm that the speed shown in Waze is fixed for CarPlay in this version. I don't really know about native voice or nav (don't have nav) commands since I haven't used either in my Edge. I wouldn't use the nav if I had it anyways due to other services like Waze having more up to date maps.
  9. for Sync 3 with NAV https: //ivsubinaries.azureedge.net/owner-package/7932338036273117425/SYNC3_2807667713_Update.zip for Sync 3 without / non NAV https: //ivsubinaries.azureedge.net/owner-package/14815755102569714493/SYNC3_2807668185_Update.zip Edit: Looks like this still has only been released for EU. I don't know what the differences are between EU and NA releases to be honest. I don't believe there should be any major differences.
  10. From what I have read and understand, CarPlay won't be wireless until Sync 4 comes out
  11. Spot on! I also am told by the Ford site that there are no downloads available for me at this time
  12. If you're looking for an update to Sync 3.0, then there has been a release in Europe. I posted the link in the other forum post. http://az696501.vo.msecnd.net/owner-package/12555428801312641808/SYNC3_2938367228_Update.zip
  13. You're running a 2018/2019 vehicle? Strange that it isn't working. I have a 2016 Edge, but I had to update the USB module to be CarPlay compliant, but now it works like a dream
  14. The new update is out for Sync 3 (just make sure to remove the space between the http: and the rest of the link http: //az696501.vo.msecnd.net/owner-package/12555428801312641808/SYNC3_2938367228_Update.zip
  15. Definitely understand. I found a download for it on a Focus RS forum and it worked in my Edge. The official release of a newer version is slowly coming available for certain people. It did fix my CarPlay vehicle speed issue in Waze too
