  1. Correct, using my phone to give Sync 3 a WiFi connection in order to update version is a lot easier than using a usb and idling for an hour!
  2. I just installed V3.10 to my 2015 F350. You definitely have to be patient and it will take 35 to 40 minutes to install. If I remember correctly, it restarts 3 times. It also hangs up in one spot for nearly 15 minutes. It is tempting to interrupt it but I let the truck continue idling while the radio seemed to be doing nothing. Eventually everything was successful screen showed up and I paired my phone back to it again. It took several attempts on my computer to upload the xlm file to the Ford website. Tomorrow my A9 map sd card should arrive and everything will be up to snuff.
  3. Yes Gilbert, IOS 12.1 corrected the messaging problem in SYNC2 MFT. I just updated my SYNC2 on my 2015 F350 from V3.8 to V3.10 You still get the message in the phone settings telling you that messaging is not supported, but the radio will still post text messages to the display for you to see when they arrive. You have to periodically check the phone settings in your iPhone's Bluetooth to make sure notifications is still turned on. I have selected "text to voice" for my radio notification for both the phone and text messages. I think it is pretty cool to listen to a text or have the callers name/number announced. SYNC3 will let you receive and reply to texts through SIRI hands free. I would be willing to bet Microsoft programmers could do that for SYNC2 MFT.
  4. On 10/30/2018 I used my iPhone 6s+ hot spot to update automatically my 2017 Mustang GT SYNC3. I took about 45 minutes. I did it while I was driving to my relatives that were an hour and a half away. It took about 3 tries of selecting scan for update before it started downloading. After that I left it alone. Listened to the radio while it was working. It did an auto reboot at about 40 minutes into it. When I got to my relatives home the information screen still showed ver2.0. However, later in the evening when I got back home it showed ver3.0. I checked just now at the Ford Owners site and it is now showing that the radio has updated to ver3.0. All in all, this way was a lot easier than fooling with a usb stick. That is what I have been doing with my 2015 F350 SYNC2 this evening. Just finished it. Now it has V3.10.
  5. The 2015 F350 went from V3.7.11 to V3.8, the 2011 F150 went from V3.2.2 to V4.4 I had been checking the Sync site periodically for updates and it did not show this new update until recently when Ford revamped the website. The only time I was able to retrieve an update was several years ago when I still had my 2010 F250 with the basic Sync. This newer website appears to work better with the Vehicle Health Reports showing the Sync update status..
  6. I have a 2011 F150 King Ranch with the SYNC 1 MFT. I also have a 2015 F350 Lariat with the SYNC 2 MFT. On 1/28/2016 I was performing vehicle health reports for my vehicle insurance coverages when I saw that both vehicles had SYNC updates available. So I performed the updates on the respective vehicles with no problems. Upon SYNC restart the results with the 2015 vehicle showed marked improvement with the bluetooth media data streaming. Also I found that a "text to voice" notification setting was now available. I prefer that to the "ringing" notifications. However, I now have the text messaging/notification/playback on the SYNC 1 vehicle. I have always made use of this feature on my 2015 vehicle but to have it now on my 2011 vehicle after 5 years of ownership is GREAT!!!!! Thanks Ford! I use an iPhone 6S+ to bluetooth to my two vehicles, Jeff
