  1. SOLVED Sometimes putting a problem into words leads you to the solution. So there is a "Part of a Compilation" in the windows user-accessible meta data too! (I was careful not to select this in the Itunes song info, but didn't know it was in windows too.) So ironically if I choose "no" on all the various artists songs they show up in the correct folder sequence when browsing thru genres on Sync1. Yay!!!
  2. I recently had to retire my 2015 Explorer and took over a 2016 Edge. The original Sync in my Explorer worked fine with my music library on a 32gig USB Flash drive. But there is a quirk using that same drive in my 2016 Edge. The quirk is... I have organized my hundreds of albums into genres on my PC's itunes, and copied them onto my flash drive. (The reason: If I'm in a the mood for Hard Rock, I can explore artists like Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. grouped together instead of arrowing down thru my ENTIRE collection alphabetically.) On my Edge, albums that are compilations by various artists ("70's Heavy Metal" or "Grunge Rock") are not listed among other albums in the Hard Rock genre -- only the artists are listed along with ALL the artists in that genre! This is a quirk that probably only I would even notice but it has been how I've searched for music to listen to for years. What's frustrating is that my older Explorer worked with this feature but the newer Edge does not. I've tweaked the metadata on these albums (the stuff I can access with Windows,) but no luck. My Sync1 version is 5.9. I see there's a 5.11 but I don't know how to get it and I'm not sure that fix would be in it anyway. I downloaded an update a few years ago but I'm not sure what version it is and I'm hesitant to mess with it until I'm sure it's good... So... 1. Any suggestions on fixing the Genres/Various Artists issue? 2. How do I identify the version number of the update I downloaded before? 3. Where can I find a reliable version of 5.11? Thanks in advance for any replies!
  3. SOLVED! I found a link in another post to a youtube video about this issue, and in the comments was a link to the files for an older version of sync - I think ver 4.3. Here is the link: http://www.filedropp...421fpackagerev2 Before installing, I needed to do a system reset because it wouldn't allow me to install an older version until I did the reset. NOTICE: I was able to download and unzip the files and place them in the right hierarchy on a flash drive, but I can't guarantee it will work for everyone. After installing this I once again have Siri and voice control on my phone. I hope it works for anyone else who needs this. TIP: download the latest update from the ford sync website first so you have a backup in the event this fails. It worked for me but you never know. Good Luck!

  5. As Per thread "SIRI Issues After Sync Upgrade" me and many others upgraded to Sync 4.6 and LOST a key feature. (We can no longer use speaking commands with Iphone, for example "hey SIRI, remind me to..". or to dictate a text message reply, etc.) My vehicle (2015 Explorer) came with version 4.3 so I don't have those files. Do any forum members still have version 4.3 or 4.4? Can you send them, post them, or get them to us in any way? Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  6. Didn't solve, but did figure out how to get my wishes. While the phone is connected to the car, if you open the iphone settings bluetooth menu, and press the "i" circle button for Ford Sync, there is the option to choose which of your contacts groups you wish to sync. You can only choose ONE group. So I went and merged the family contacts with my wife's, so we only have two groups - 1. Mine / 2 - My Wife and our Family. (The easiest way to merge is thru the icloud website contact list - Drag the contacts one-by-one from one list to the other.) So I chose group 2 to sync. I then deleted the Ford Sync address book and re-downloaded it. Only the group 2 is now in her car.
  7. By the way, there is a work-around to this... if you momentarily disable your bluetooth, you can use Siri and voice-texting as normal - the sound will come from the phone of course, not the car audio. Then re-enable bluetooth. The easiest way to do this is to swipe up from the bottom of the iphone screen, and unlight the bluetooth icon. After, to re-enable, do the same but you will also have to re-connect to the phone thru the Sync menu. Extra buttons to hit - while driving!!! So not a fix, but a work-around.
  8. I have the same issue. Also unable to use my iphone to dictate a text message like I used to be able to do. Very frustrated! Wish I never upgraded!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Me and my wife both have Iphone 6's and we keep our contacts synced thru icloud. I have a few hundred contacts while she has only 50. We have them divided into 3 groups, mine, hers, and family (those we share.) Our salesman synced her phone which loaded ALL of the groups of contacts. She only wants hers and our family groups synced. What's the best (easiest) way to fix this?
  10. I finally got around to putting my music library on a flash drive for use in my car. The music is about 25 gigs, and about 6,000 songs. The drive was indexed and the songs all play, but navigating around is tedious! With all the artists and songs, the best way to find what I want is thru the "Explore USB" option, but that way the songs for each album and artist are in alphabetical order!!! (Can you Imagine listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" or "Sgt. Pepper" that way?) Scrolling thru hundreds of album titles works but the artists are not grouped together, again they scroll alphabetically by title. (It takes about 50 button pushes to get to Genesis Abacab! - Nice while trying to drive! - And I don't like voice commands - she can't pronounce or understand a third of my music!) My wife just got a 2016 Edge. Her system lists albums in track order when utilizing "Explore USB" so I thought maybe I should update my firmware. That was quite a task but I think I did it (version went from EJ5T-14D544-AA to GG1T-14D544-AB.) But, alas, no changes in the way you navigate thru the drive. I can think of a few ways to work-around (renaming EVERY album title or track name, utilizing the "Genre" category, or making LOTS of playlists -- all very time consuming!) And I am also frustrated that when you finally get to the album you wish to play, it repeats after the last track and doesn't continue to the next album ... AND... when you arrow back or hit "return" you are back to the first item in the drive and not the current location you are at!!! Looking for some advice that might help!
  11. Thanks for your reply. I am sorry to hear that. I am surprised that the Sync system will automatically engage whenever I receive a call regardless of what I am listening to or even with the system off ... But won't do so for any other phone activity. I would like to suggest this option for future software updates. Thanks again.
  12. I have I-phone 6 and 2015 Explorer using My Ford Sync. Works ok but I want to change some settings but don't know how. Hands-free phone work great. However, when in car my phone goes mute completely. No notification sounds for texts or emails, and no turn info when using Google Maps for driving directions. I can only hear instruction when I listen to music from my phone using the AUX/BT selection but when I do that my phone will instantly start playing its' current song. The song mutes for Google instructions or I can stop the song. But I want notification sounds and driving turn info to come from the phone so I can listen to music from radio or CD while driving. Can I change settings to accomplish this? Thanks!
