  1. My wife called the Ford Dealership and I'll be dropping the car off tomorrow morning. They think it may take a while to fix. They had one other report today too and it isn't that big of a dealership IMHO. Here's a video I posted showing the problem:
  2. This morning, my radio was stuck on and would not change stations, let me adjust the volume or turn off (even after the car was powered off). How do I force a reboot short of pulling the batter cable? I've seen reference to a delayedreboot.cab, but that appears to have been pulled back in 2013. The physical power, volume, source and tunning buttons did not work. The touch screen interface for the radio did not work (though I could access the phone and other screens). The steering wheel controls wouldn't change volume or tunning, either from the four arrows or the handsfree. Help!
  3. Thanks Mr. T - I was hoping to avoid needing to leave the car at the dealer, but it sounds like that is the way I need to go. Time to schedule an appointment :-)
  4. Ok, how the heck do I download 3.5.1 to my USB stick. I just did the Sync Checker tool and that all worked. It confirms I am 3.1.3 :-(. Thanks, Jon On the sync update page, I see this but nothing is listed below:
  5. I love my 2013 Ford C-Max SEL that I bought in October 2012. I hate the Sync system because of all the problems I am having with it and the dealers complete inability to fix it, which is probably Ford's problem. I'm an IT guy, so I'd like to report these problems somewhere that can actually get the bugs filed and fixes on the way so that I and many other Ford owners can love their cars fully. Here's my list of problems. I have photos of most of them happening. GPS off by several blocks often (over a mile occasionally) GPS map being completely blank Navigation SD Card Fault numerous times Blank Stations for the radio for hours at a time (problem persists through restarting the car) Completely blank Sync screen Blank Sync Screen with only the colored band across the bottom or top Multi-minute delay for voice calling to actually placing the call (I often end up manually placing the call and start talking only to hear the Sync say "calling so and so." Long periods of unresponsiveness from Sync, 5-7 minutes at a time (sometimes with beeps when I press a sport that should do something, sometimes no sound) Warning about performing scheduled maintenance Issues getting SyncMyRide setup (I think that is resolved) Issues generating vehicle health report (resolved but practically useless) Sync will not shut off when paired with my wife's phone - we've had to completely unpair it and not be able to use handsfree or it won't turn off even after the car has been off for hours. Let me know what debugging information is helpful and I'm happy to report this to the appropriate folks if I can just find out where to do that. Thanks, Jon
  6. I'm interested in any update and what you need to say to the dealer to get it fixed too. Also, who at Microsoft or Ford can owners report bugs and complaints. I've documented the more than a dozen different issues I've had, almost all with the Sync system and I really just want to see it get fixed. Thanks!
  7. When I go to SyncMyRide.com it shows my version as: DM5T-14D544-AD Gen2 - V3.1.3 This release is for BEV vehicles only. CI 3/9/2013 and the Nav App Ver is 2.15.17 and Map DB Ver: A3 which I got from the car itself. Using my iPhone to take pictures of the Touch screen is so useful for getting info since the car isn't smart enough to log and report this useful data.
  8. I took delivery of mine back in October, so I'm sure it was built before January. My MPG is lower than I'd like, but it has been getting consistently better and I only have 2700 miles on it. The break-in period is 6,000 miles. I also know my commute is really challenging for a hybrid (short - 7 miles, hilly and very cold for now). In my unfortunate extra 20 miles driving on the highway, I did notice that if I stopped trying to hypermile, the C-Max was actually pretty good about mixing up the IC and Electric engine at highway speeds around 70 mph. I haven't spent any real time driving on the highway before. My current lifetime average is 33.7 MPG and this take is over 36.0 MPG. Far cry from the 47 MPG city/highway, but still better than my Camry Hybrid which dropped to 28 or less MPG in the Boston winter. I think the C-Max is more fun to drive too!
  9. I have been very unhappy with the Nav in my C-Max SEL. This weekend it caused me to get on the highway going the wrong way, which took 10 miles each way to resolve at the next exit and the very next day it was more than a mile off target with where the car was, which would have made it impossible to get to my location if I didn't use my iPhone's GPS functionality instead. I have a picture showing me over a mile from the highway that is also shown on the picture. I'd been on the road for about 10 minutes already and the sky is clear, so there should have been no issues getting a GPS lock, though you can also see the GPS with the red X on it. I had it in at the dealer on the 12th (3/12/2013) and they said I had the latest version of the Sync and Nav software. How can I confirm the Nav version to see about getting that updated? p.s. is there a way to post a photo that isn't already available on the web in this forum?
  10. Back in Oct 2012, we replaced our Camry Hybrid with a 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL. We love the car, but have had a dozen different problems with the Sync infotainment system which have been very disappointing. I work in IT and am hoping that I can get some help resolving these major & minor bugs in Sync for my C-Max. I also write a green living blog www.greenlifestylechanges.com and love renewable energy, technology and efficiency.
