  1. Got a call from the dealer with a little bit of good news. They pulled a new car off the lot and tried the upgrade today and finally got it to complete. This is the first upgrade that they have successfully done. Said it took 4 hours and everything appears to be working. They want to try a couple more of their vehicles to get the procedure down before they try mine. The dealer says that the process show go quicker now that they have the first one completed, don't fully understand that but will give them the benefit of a doubt. If the others go good they will do mine early next week. This is the first sign of progress I have seen and hope they are not blowing smoke up my rear.

Still semi patiently waiting (As If I Have A Choice)

4 hours? thats a record, Mine is on its 4th day coming Monday and they can't get the files to take, what a bunch of crap

  2. Good luck, as long as you are going in with both eyes open and aware of what may happen. I knew I was taking a chance my being one of the first "beta" testers for the new upgrade so I was not totally surprised when it failed. Hopefully they can get the procedure working this next week. The Edge ain't much fun to drive without Sync and the other stuff it controls.

And I have pulled fuse 29 and damn these new low profile fuses, I dropped mine behind the lower cover when I was putting it back in and had to use the spare. The fuse panel is in a terrible position for quick access.

My hand is up about the fuse thing, I to dropped mine behind it but I went a step further and made sure the spare fell back there to, then I had to remove the kick panel and all

dumb place for a fuse box

  3. Who would have thought this would be such a big deal to fix. It was dialing the wrong number from the get go and now its taking out everything in its path when they try and fix it. I don't think the wrong number is the issue though because they gave me the other number it should dial and doing that manualy, you get the same result a recording. I think Ford owes us owners big time and put in a real GPS system instead of this Sync Service junk

  4. Go to the Ford Sync Web Page and register your vehicle. After that sign in on the Owner to Owner link and you will have the opportunity to join those of us in the US and Canada who have become owners of 2011 Ford Edges and Lincoln MKx's with the defective MyTouch system. You will quickly learn that a large segment of owners are having all kinds of problems with the new system. Few answers have been given. It appears that most dealers are as in the dark as we are. Phone the Sync hot line and get a different answer depending on which customer service rep you speak to. Through all of this Ford head offices in the US and Canada just ignore us. The advertising in the newspaper, and on TV states that the MyTouch system is the end all so it must be working properly. The sad part is that when it does work properly it knocks your socks off it's that good. But it was released before these problems were properly dealt with.

Finally you are hearing this from a person who has had 5 new Fords and Lincolns in the last 11 years including a 2008 Edge with Sync that had some minor defects but nothing like MyTouch.

Hopefully we all will get the problems sorted out; but I am having trouble understanding Ford's approach to it's new owners.

I already have my vehicle registered and seeing many others with the same problem just can't believe how long this has been going on with no answers

  5. After owning the vehicle for a month now, I am no where any closer to getting the synce service fixed. Its been to 2 dealers and been waiting for 3 weeks now for a couple of parts that one dealer says is the problem. Has anyone else gotten any help from their dealer and what was the fix?

I would really like to just take this back, I can't be the only one out here with a 2011 Edge.

  6. I'm trying to pair my Droid to our Edge but every time I begin typing the pass into the Droid the phone says a problem is occuring and won't let me finish entering the pass. Should I be looking for an answer here or on the Droid website? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a droid and Synced up to our 2011 Edge ok. I do know you have to enter it in rather quickly. If that don't work, might talk to the carrier

  7. So we took our first road trip last night in our 2011 Edge, which for the most part we love. I'm a gadget hound and I want to love the MyFord Touch/Sync system, which is by and large great, but the glaring bugs we ran into last night bordered on dangerous.

First off, I've had problems with the Sync Services lady (through the phone, not the one in the car) recognizing me when I say "yes" from day 1. I'd say I want directions, I'd read off an address or a business name, and she would get all that fine, but then ask if I want directions to that address and half the time would never hear me no matter how loud I yelled "YES!" into the microphone. That's just annoying. We also see weird bugs on the MFT system like our preset labels vanishing and then reappearing on their own a few minutes later.

Last night while in Cincinatti for a gallery opening, we used Sync Services Directions to get us there. It did ok for the most part, but would say things like "bear right on Cincinatti" instead of "bear right on I-74" as we were departing Indianapolis. Weird and a bit annoying, but it got us there.

Then once we were in Cincinatti, a city we've never been in before and are not familiar with at all, we experienced what I would call a major directions malfunction. After the gallery opening everyone went out for dinner at a big popular place downtown called Nada. We were late leaving the gallery, so we couldn't just follow everyone. No problem, I thought, I'll use Directions.

First, it wouldn't recognize "Nada Restaurant" by name, despite it being listed that way in Google and being one of the most popular spots downtown. So I pulled out my iPhone, found Nada's street address, and spoke that. "600 Walnut St.", it repeated. Perfect, yes I'd like directions please.

20 minutes later, I make a turn it tells me to make, and then suddenly it says we're off route. I had been starting to think that anyway -- this didn't look like downtown, in fact it looked extremely seedy. Embarrassed because of the passengers I had in the car, I pulled over and checked my iPhone.

Not only were we not at our intended destination, Sync had been taking us in the opposite direction. On top of that, I later found out (once we made it to Nada by having one of my passengers navigate me using an iPhone) that we had wound up in one of the most dangerous areas of the whole city.

    So...

    1. It couldn't find one of the biggest restaurants downtown by name

    2. It confirmed the street address I read to it, but then took us a totally different direction and quit when we were in an extremely dangerous area.

We're pretty upset about this. Talk about technology failing when you need it most. Someone please tell me...who the hell can I report bugs to at Ford?

I want to congradulate you on having a syn system that sort of works. I have a 2011 that the service doesn't work, it is something with the module and dialing the wrong number. I have been back and forth with Ford Sync and the dealer. 3 weeks and still no resolved issues. I would call Ford Sync and complain and they will open a incident ticket.

  8. I have a 2010 Ford Mustang and I am having this same problem. However, in my case it used to work just fine. One day I was attempting to get directions, said my destination, it said it was downloading directions, but it just sat there and never finished. The next time I attempt to connect to Sync Services, it waits about a second and then goes back to wherever it was before I hit the voice button. I tried doing a master reset (which requires you to repair your phone), but this did not help.

I am looking for a solution to this also.

I have a 2011 Edge and the Sync turn by turn has not worked yet. I have been back and forth with Ford, and Sync and Sync says take it to dealer to reprogram the Sync Module. Ford says they know there is an issue and working on a solution. But yet they take the vehicle, tie it up all day, knowing they won't fix it until Ford gives them the fix.

  9. I recently purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with Snyc. I was told there was navigation in the vehicle. There is, but the system is the Turn by Turn and not the GPS with maps I thought it was equiped with. I have spoken to the dealer who thought Ford Motor Co. was working on a resolution, and also, I have called Ford directly only to be told it is not an upgrade or add on for my car! My system can give me sports scores, my horoscope, etc, but not GPS navigation. I am not HAPPY to say the least. We are planning on making this an issue and if it takes having them order me a new car...if in fact they can't install GPS in my car...then so be it. I have been getting the answer that this is a system that needs to be factory installed, but if I have the computer in my car already, why ... and no one can explain this to my satisfaction...can't the system just be upgraded? Anyone else out there with the same problem?

I have a 2011 Edge as well and was told the same thing, it was only a voice turn by turn system. But I havent heard it yet because it hasn't worked since I bought it 2 weeks ago. I have had it to 2 different dealers. They work on it and then tell me it is a Ford issuse. Why are they trying to work on something they don't have a fix for yet? I can't be the only 2011 owner out there that has this issue and they can't tell me dealerships haven't seen it yet. So I wait.
