  1. Anyone know what happened to the official SYNC web site. Especially the Customer to Customer?
  2. From what I can tell, you need to have SYNC Services available. If you have Gen 1 and on-board nav SYNC Services is not available. Also it only downloads the destination not the route. Good luck Gene
  3. From what I have read, If you can get it to work at all, It only sends the destination. On board Sync navigation is still used for the routing.
  4. It's call bread crumbs and tracks where you have been. There is a option to turn it off/on. To clear turn off and then back on. Good luck Gene
  5. For those interested in Nav data update. I received in the mail notification a new update is available $199. I will pass on this one, there are lots of road changes in my area recently and I am sure they are not in the update. Good luck.
  6. I have updated my Gen 1 SYNC nav twice. Each one was $199 plus tax and shipping. Both times the new maps were 18 to 24 months behind Navteq's own web site. When questioned. Navteq said Ford controls when and cost of the new updates. The update includes the map data and Gracenotes (I don't use the Gracenotes). On a side point you can go to a business using the business phone number but not by the business Name. Very disappointing.
  7. From the Ford SYNC Web site "SYNC® Services may be unavailable if your vehicle was released before 2009, if your vehicle was purchased outside the United States or your vehicle is equipped with a navigation system. " The only thing you can do on sync services is the vechile report. Also I am now on S3 phone and SYNC says text is not available. Good Luck Gene
  8. Some programs puts the drive letter as part of the track name. I had to remove it from the playlist file to get my playlist to work. I was using Itunes. Track name needs to be relative to the folders.
  9. Has anyone had any sucess in using the Galaxy S3 phonebook to set the destination in the NAV system. Seems like I read a topic on the subject but now that I have a S3 I can't find it. One interesting thing I found was a business phone number can be used as a destination but not the business name. Thanks for your help, Gene 2010 Expeditation Gen 1 V 3.1 with NAV
  10. I am not to sure how much MicroSoft has to do with the problem. Ford contracted a third party called bSquare to do the programming on the SYNC system. Microsoft only furnished the operating system. There was a rumor at one time that Ford replaced bSquare with another company, but I don't know if Ford actually changed the company. Bottom line Ford is still the responsible company.
  11. If you have Gen 1 ver 3.1 with NAV. or earlier you lose nothing. Services was only used for uploading the web site with the vech. report. Gene
  12. I use one of the disconnect switches on on antique car when not in use. http://www.shopthedude.com/prd.cl/WIR20307 It might work for you. Most auto parts houses have them. Good luck. Gene
  13. Have you tried the s3 on a gen 1 ver. 3.1 sync? Thanks, Gene
