  1. Two days later, and Texting is gone again! Absolutely nothing has changed since iOS 12.1 update. Now I'm stumped! I hope you're right, Jeff, that an incoming text will still 'chime'. No way to listen to the text, though, nor delete it. Not a happy camper!! A day later & it's on again. No additional inputs from me. This is really mysterious!
  2. iOS 12.1 restored my texting! Can't believe no one else had this problem. Whatever, I'm whole again.
  3. Settings checked. Found 'Notifications' turned off. Turned it on, I now have the 'envelope' showing, but Sync still says my my iPhone does not support bluetooth texting. Texting has worked on my MKT since I bought it in August 2010 until now.
  4. I did work until iOS12. No Sync updates done, just iOS12.
  5. Ever since upgrading to iOS 12, text messaging through my Sync (Sync 1) doesn't work. Sync says text messaging isn't supported on my iPhone--iPhone 7 Plus. Is there a fix, or will iOS 12.1 restore it?
  6. Rebecca, Thank you, but I had already tried that. (but re-did it to be sure!) Some how, some way, text notification/display started up again. Out of 4 texts I've gotten, 3 were 'OK' or 'Yes', and didn't come thru, but a sentence long one did. Hopefully, it'll continue.
  7. So far (it's only been a few hours) I haven't noticed any difference at all. Never had any connectivity or stability problems before. Don't use voice, although it may be better to not. Haven't tried media playback yet.
  8. Update: Not quite so happy. Text notifications "are not supported on this phone" ARGH! GRRR! Even though it says: '- Optimized for use with Apple iOS 6 for incoming text messaging' I guess that didn't carry over to iOS8 &/or iPhone6.
  9. Update: Went in for oil & filter (2/27/15) and asked about the dealer only update. Not only did they do it, they didn't charge me! They called it 'Goodwill'. It did totally delete my phone, however, but, I will reinstall phone today (it was -2 out earlier today, but it's up to 17 already. High of 20, so will do it later today) Needless to say, I'm thrilled; especially since I lost text notifications when I upgraded to iPhone6. Here's the install as listed on the website: Date Confirmed: Feb 27, 2015 Version: Gen1 - 3.2.6 Hide details BG1T-14D544-AJ This new software will provide the following enhancements to your current SYNC® system: - Updated Bluetooth device connectivity - Improved system stability - Improved media player functionality - Enhanced voice recognition capabilities - Optimized for use with Apple iOS 6 for incoming text messaging This update includes improvements from all previous SYNC updates such as flattened phone grammar, improvements in device indexing, text messaging capabilities with the implementation of message access profile (MAP), and more. For additional information on previous updates, visit SYNCmyride.com. Please Read: This update may take up to 20 minutes to complete. About 1 to 3 minutes after you begin the installation, you will hear an Installation Complete message. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR USB DRIVE OR TURN OFF YOUR VEHICLE. You must wait up to an additional 20 minutes until you receive a second Installation Complete message before removing your USB drive. During this interval, while the update is loading, SYNC® will not recognize your mobile phone or media device. Be sure your vehicle's engine is running (not in Accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Although your vehicle must be in Park when you initiate the installation process, once the download process has begun, you may drive your vehicle.
  10. iOS is either anti Sync, or the opposite! I used to have text notifications on NAV screen, but now get nothing! I have to keep my iPhone (6, BTW) touching me, as the only notice I have of a text is the vibration! (NO jokes about that, please!)
  11. Sometimes, rarely, my phone reverts to internal speaker. I have to click 'Sync' on my iPhone. Whatever phone you have, try something similar.
  12. Even though Rebecca will pipe in here saying they do/will, it seems, to me, that Ford has abandoned updates for, at least, 2011 and earlier. I haven't had an update since October 2011.
  13. Firstly, this is a Sync site. Does the smell somewhat sweet smelling? If so, it has an antifreeze leak.
  14. After upgrading from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6, I have lost all text notifications. It used to work. I've disabled & enabled it in settings, but no help. My only alternative is to 'feel' the vibration on my phone. Any ideas? (2011 MKT; Sync Gen1, v. 3.2.3)
