  6. He's referring to display on the cluster, not on the Sync3 screen. Escapes are slightly different. If they do not have factory NAV you cannot display directions in the cluster message center without making ForScan changes.
  7. without seeing your issue.... here are things to try See if another phone will do what you are expecting... has it worked before ? If not then maybe your version of hardware might not allow for it... 😎 If it has , then maybe an update to the OS might have affected that...... 😎
  8. After trying to reestabilish the map system doing an update via USB without success, I could have the whole system working again, simply removing , waiting a minute and reintroducing the fuse number 17 behind the glove box compartment.
  9. Since you also have this issue on the wife's car try uninstalling iHeart, then rebooting the phone followed by a reinstall of iHeart. The fact that the problem follows the phone makes it a phone issue. Last resort would be a full factory reset of the phone.
  10. I restart the phone at least every 3 day. I have checked in AA and iheart is listed at the very top. The iheart app use to show on the screen without the phone hooked to the USB (wife's still does) all software is up to date phone app and AA. Any other suggestions?
  11. 1) Check the settings on your phone for Android auto and go to customize launcher. If its not in the list AA won't display the app 2) When was the last time the phone was rebooted? You could have a stuck update. 3) Sync only shows what Android Auto passes to it, Ford has no control over the settings on your phone.
  12. What build of Sync3 is the car on and does it have factory NAV?
  13. Interesting - the owners manual agrees with you, but that menu option does not appear on my Escape! I have looked everywhere!
  14. After a time the battery will just stop working.... 2016 means it's about 7-8 years old... if it has never been replaced... it's time... Lead acid batteries last about 3-4 year (I've read longer but 3-4 is a norm)
  15. HI Ricky. From your description, it would seem to be an issue with your particular phone. You stated your phone will now not work properly in your SUV or your wife's Edge. Yet her phone will work in her Edge and your vehicle. That points would see point to a phone issue as the likely problem, as opposed to an iHeart or Ford/SYNC issue. That being said, take the following thoughts and advice with the knowledge that I use Apple CarPlay, not Android Auto: The one other thought I have is...Perhaps iHeart radio was somehow removed from the Android Auto/SYNC screen settings/preferences on your phone? Have you gone into your the Android Auto/SYNC settings on your phone, to be sure iHeart radio is still chosen as an onscreen app in SYNC? Also, I would recommend you remove your phone number and email from your post. No good can come of having that information publicly posted on the Internet. Keep us updated and good luck. 🍻
  16. The battery saver message means you need a new battery. The BMS system will load shed non-essential modules in an effort to charge the battery enough that the car will start the next ignition cycle.
  17. I have a 2016 Fusion that does the same thing, quits work and weeks later will start working again. But when mine is not working it drains the battery, what I have read is that the bluetooth is what is draining the battery, any truth to this?
  18. I have a 2016 Ford Fusion SE, occasionally the Sync quits working and after a random period of time it will start working again. It quit working a couple of days ago and this morning the battery was dead (has happened before and will start with a Jump) This morning there was a message on the radio "Battery Saver Audio Off". Does anyone know why the Sync just quits working? The Radio & Sirius still works, just the Sync will not work.
  19. So you're first problem is that the Sync3 APIM doesn't have a built in cell modem, that function is part of the TCU if the car has one. The easy way to find out if you don't have access to the car would be to pull the AsBuilt for the VIN and see if it has 754-xxxx series data blocks, if they are there the car has a TCU. Then you need to look at the part number on that line and see if it is an H or higher (G series TCUs are 3G and those stopped functioning quite a while back, Ford offered a CSP for customers that wanted the functionality restored as some owners like those of the 2020 Fusion Energi got royally screwed by Ford continuing to put in G series units to the very end of production. Functions like XM Travel Link are provided by the ACM, these tie into the in vehicle NAV. The second problem is that unless the APIM is a NAV APIM and the NAV was in use the GPS data for where the car has been will more than likely not be held by the APIM for any legnth of time if at all. My suggestion would be to look at the IPC or PCM as these are other gateway modules, with the PCM being the "black box". Back in the Sync2/MFT days (pre Sync3) Ford used to offer what was called Sync Destinations as an app and via the Ford owner site, if a car lacked NAV entirely you could send turn by turn directions to the car even if it only had the 4" screen as every car had a GPSM to provided the current geo coordinates.
  20. Its under the driver settings and only works if the car has built in NAV, in some models its possible to display Google Maps and Apple Map (based on the OS of the phone). Other map solutions eg Waze, Sygic do not display even if they are the default phone map.
  21. I am new here and it is this post by the Moderator that brought me to the site. I am a forensic investigator looking at a vehicle of interest that had a sync 3 APIM. The question originally posed about how locations previously travelled to is stored automatically without user entering route requests is of interest to me as well. I have been able to arrange physical and logical data acquisitions for the entire data stored on the module using forensic tools kits like Cellebrite 2.0. Does anyone here understand the inputs or internal compoenents / programming of the module acquires "Mapview_#" data? This data consists of date/time and periodic logged decimal degree coordinates with strAccuracy ranging in three specific categories (..12 m (200 m), .25 m (400 m), .5 m (800 m). I would like to understand how the data is logged/acquired when all or most telematic information is disconnected
  22. My 2015 Ford Touch system would show turn information on the information display between the speedometer and tach. I can't find a way to display that information on my 2017 Escape Titanium. Is that no longer available on Sync 3?
  23. Hi Ponch. As I believe you have figured out...Yes, the "syncnavigation.com" website you have listed is the SYNC 3/SYNC 3 NAV map site for US vehicles. You are located in the EU (UK?), that is why your VIN is coming up as invalid on that site. Since you are located in the EU, you need to check for and download your SYNC and NAV maps from the UK/European SYNC 3/NAV maps update website. SYNC and map updates are also handled differently in other countries/regions than the US. Many other countries/regions get free NAV map updates. In your case, you need to use the UK/support website. If the EU SYNC 3 system was similar to the US SYNC 3 system, the latest SYNC update was required to be installed in order to download the latest SYNC 3 NAV map update. And simply for informational purposes: As you have also determined...Yes, the NAV maps are updated via a "third party" NAV map company, but are distributed by Ford, to eligible Ford vehicle owners via the websites you have listed in your previous post. This is no different than how Ford contracts with "third party" suppliers for the vast majority of the components and parts in our vehicles. Hope this information helps and good luck.
  24. As I said, the MAPS update is always 3rd party.... ford does not do the actual maps... someone else does , they do host the file... but that is all they do.
  25. You read my post wrong. My car now has an updated (3.0.23219) Sync system and I'm in Europe. Ford's site, https://www.ford.co.uk/support/sync-maps-updates (not a "3rd part") tells me I now have an updated maps package available for download. The SYNC 3 package was 2.7GB, the MAPS package is 24GB. The link to the package (Map_26177537498_UPDATE.zip) points to ford.com, ...not a 3rd part, not an OS package. I'm not sure if "https://syncnavigation.com" is the 3rd part site you refer to. That one lists my Sync version right (from the VIN) but says the VIN is invalid when checking for map update.... (-> US only ?). I read on other sites that this maps package had been added very recently. That does not mean that the maps are very recent.
  26. 3.0.23219 is NOT a map, it is part of the OS... as I said, maps are NOT updated by Ford, but through a 3rd part. 😎 As far as most (OS) updates, they tend to take about 20-30 minutes.... a person can either wait till Sept... or visit the web site.... US only... 😎 and the MAPS tend to be about 2-3 years behind... 😎
