  3. You need at least Sync 3.0 for Android Auto so you are out of luck on that. As far as Fordpass is concerned, does your vehicle have Fordpass Connect? I believe that option is required on the 2017. I would contact Ford Customer Service and they can run through troubleshooting with you if your vehicle is properly equipped.
  4. Hi Ken-STL Okay, great, That is what I was hoping for. Good luck. đŸ»
  5. I have a new to me 2017 ford fusion hybrid with snyc 1. I want to get the android auto working with it but have had no luck. When i got the vehicle, it was on version 5.10. With great difficulty and help from this forum, i was able to upgrade it to version 5.11, but still have no connection via usb sync android auto. I have a moto g 100 running android 12. From everything i have looked at, it should be compatible. I have android auto installed and up to date. I have tried a variety of usb cables of different sizes and quality in the 1 usb port in the center console. nothing from android auto pops up. I made sure android auto is running and has full permissions. The phone recognizes a device is plugged in. I have tried all the options for usb; usb controlled by connected device, file transfer, usb tethering, midi, ptp, and ready for. none seems to trigger android auto to work. What else can i try? thanks. Also, i have fordpass installed and when i click on my vehicle, it's just a blank screen. I removed and redownloaded the app. not sure what else i can try. Thanks for any help.
  6. Hi Ken-STL. If possible, post a photo of the screen showing your SYNC 3.4 version. Good luck.
  7. Pull the battery cable for 30 minutes to force a cold boot of all the modules. The version of Sync3 has nothing to do with FordPass as the screen is just a user interface (like the keyboard and screen of a PC), what FordPass actually connects to is the TCU which then pulls data via the cluster. Ford released the 5.60 version of the app within the last week or so. So we get into a bunch of possibilities, reauth, new version of the app or the car may not have been in full data coverage (FordPass in NA runs over AT&T/Rodgers). Folks have also reported issues with FordPass in Russia and near the Russian border due to Ford honoring the US sanctions by denying service.
  8. Thanks. For some reason--my not having done anything else yet--the ESN number has reappeared and the app works again! Ford's support website shows my car having the most current Sync 3 build, 23188, but the Sync screen in my Edge just shows me at 3.4 with nothing after it.
  9. I confirm that answer (for the NO) Imagine if all you did was reboot your computer ... all that does is reboot the OS, not the hardware.... turn it off for about 5 seconds, then start it up again. THAT restarts the hardware... so the same with pulling the fuse
  10. No, a Master Reset does not accomplish the same thing. The power needs to be removed from the modem to get it to reset. You either need to pull the correct fuse or disconnect the battery if the modem ESN is blank. Maybe there is a way to reset the modem via a capable scan tool, but I am not aware of how that would work. Sync 3.4 is the latest. A Master Reset only resets the settings to default and does not change the installed version. So, you should have Sync 3.4 followed by a build number. Build 23188 is the latest available from Ford.
  11. I did a master reset. Would that have accomplished the same thing? The ESN number was still absent, and Sync went down to v. 3.4
  12. Something to look at is if you can see the modem ESN in the Sync3 settings. If it is blank, try pulling the fuse (and being sure the fuse is good) for telematics. If you cannot do the fuse, you could disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes or so. This will let the modem reset. If you do disconnect the battery, be sure to check your owners manual for things to check when replacing the 12 volt battery. After reconnecting the battery or installing the fuse, the ESN should appear. Then things should work. If the ESN is still blank, then the modem may be bad. If the ESN is already displayed, then I would contact Ford support. They can walk you through some things that may restore your functionality.
  13. I have a 2019 Ford Edge SEL AWD ("Reggie") and the FordPass app has not worked the past few months. My version of Sync 3 is updated (version 3.4.23188). How can I fix this? Do I need perhaps to get my APIM software updated? There is a special service message about that. Is it something an independent shop can do for me? Dealership wants $$$ to do it.
  14. Dear bbf2530 can you help me with this post please posted 9-7-24 no one has offered to respond did i do something wrong?  If you can help me and stuff that would be great if not can you help me get it to the right place to get some responses PLEASE?

    heres what I posted:

I need help all at once my Samsung S20+ and ford sync / IHeart app has stopped working.  Reached out to IHeart and everything on their end is good they say.  All at once the IHeart button has disappeared from the audio >Source screen I am able to see XM,FM,AM, my phone but where the IHeart push button use to be it's gone. NOTHING I do will make it come back and I am unable to play my IHeart now.  It has to be something with my phone I am guessing  but no one can tell me what?  My wife has Samsung S20 and hers will connect perfectly in this SUV.

Note: She has a 2019 Ford Edge that hers works in as well. MINE will not work in her SUV either.  Please help me I miss my IHeart radio at a push of a button.   Neither one of us uses or wants to use Android car play because of having to plug phone in.  Never had to from the get go!

Any help would be greatly appreciated very unhappy with Android/Ford/IHeart right now!

HI Ricky. First, what model and model year vehicle do you have? Any chance it is still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? If yes, schedule a service appointment and let the issue be properly diagnosed and corrected.

If not...here is a blind Internet diagnosis (and lime most blind Internet diagnoses, not worth much😉😞 Unfortunately, from your description, it seems to be an issue with your individual phone and/or IHeart radio.

I say this because your wife has the same/similar Samsung S20 phone, and hers works in your vehicle and her Edge. Yet your phone has issues in both vehicles. At least if I am reading your post correctly.

Does IHeart Radio work properly using her phone?

All I can recommend at this point would be to be sure your SYNC system is updated, using the Ford SYNC  3 update website (not automatic/WiFi updating).

If no luck there, try deleting and reinstalling IHeart Radio on your phone.

No luck there? Try deleting your phone from SYNC, and your vehicle from your phone. Then reinstall everything again.

As a last resort, you can try a SYNC Master Reset, following the instructions in your Owners Manual. Keep i mind you will need to reconnect your phones, reset many settings etc., after a Master Reset.

Sorry I can not offer much more advice than that.

Keep us updated and good luck.

  15. @Python63 If you have the 2-line display and not the touch-screen/nav version, I can provide you with the 4.4 files. I recently had a friend update his 2012 Escape and all went well. Of course, you’re doing this at your own risk, though I doubt you will have a problem. I also have the 4.6 files, but I do not recommend that version due to some features Ford removed. These files are from a 2011 Mariner I used to have. If you can provide a place for me to upload the files, let me know.
  16. The ford site is about as accurate as it can be. First , you may 'want' to get the more recent version, but they tell you no. so Maybe there is a slightly higher version (3........) but as far as going to 4.xxxxx my first thought is , no. THis is not to say you can't, it's just the it's a no without any restrictions. You have an escape (Ford), and your friend has a Mariner (maybe Lincoln, but maybe a Mercury? ) (are they the same year?)
  17. I have a 2012 escape with sync version 3.2.2.2 (BG1T-14D544-AD) i would like to go uo to v4.4 for simple reasons, display just shows "Bluetooth Audio Stream" instead of the song title, and a friend has a mariner (same as escape) and can select bluetooth option by pressing the aux button where i have to press media button on steering wheel. If i put my vin on on fords sync site, it tells me no updates available but can it mess up the works to try to update through the usb port? Thank you!!!
  18. Hi Dre23 and welcome to the Ford SYNC Forum. If you provide more information about your vehicle and issues, perhaps someone can help. For example: - The model and model year of your vehicle. - The current SYNC version installed in your vehicle (the full version, not just "SYNC 3" or "SYNC 4"). - The type of issues you are having. - Have you checked the appropriate Ford SYNC update website to see if there are any available updates for your vehicle and installed them if available. - Etc. etc. Get back to us with more information and good luck.
  19. just got a 2018 ka+ , checked for update over wifi said there were none. used voice to phone and radio turns on. bluetooth constantly loses connection. tried the fuse idea ,not a fix, master reset not a fix, system reboot not a fix. looked on the ford site and had to find update and do it by usb. its better but the only fix iv found is if every time i get in car turn blue tooth off on phone start the engine , connect bluetooth and the connection is stable. shouldnt have to do this as my 2015 ecosport i traded for this had sync 1 and was spot on. hope this helps.
  20. None of these solutions worked for me. If they knew voice files was corrupted long ago why are they still providing the same update today with same issues. Why can't they give customers a fix from a USB they could send out

  23. I was thinking more about 'how' it worked... and my answer is, for charging, and you would have to use the phone for navigation... as for the BT thing, sure... 😎 Just saw that CP works in your car, what 'car' is that?
