Basically, Sync-Sucks.
I had a Parrot 3100 in my other car. It has a neat feature which allows it to PASS the voice command through to the iphone which then interprets it and acts on it. The parrot is just a pipeline. The iphone voice recongition is excellent and blows away the sync feature. My sync has been trained 4 times successfully, but it still screws up dialing commands, if I give it a phone number to dial, it screws up the numbers, its basically so uselesss that I will probably install a parrot in my 2010 Expedition and disable the phone portion of the Nav setup.
Programmers and designers take note.... Your system sucks !
Another issue. In my Iphone I have input a phone number followed by two commas for a delay, then a "*" and two more commas and a 3 digit extension. In the parrot, the dialing works perfectly and inputs the delay and the trigger and the extension just fine. This stupid sync ignores anything past the 10 digit phone number making my macros useless. This is dangerous because now I have to pick up the phone and dial in the extension. Why cant you guys get it right and see what your competition is doing and then make yours at least as good or better. To take and disable this system in a $50,0000 car for a $200 accessory is shameful.
Sorry, but Sync seems to be a badly configured collection of work arounds and poorly thought out features most of which are basically useless, too hard to use, require too much attention and are downright dangerous. An agent friend of mine said that one of his carriers is threatening to drop insurance for people who have SYNC in their cars because they spend too much time trying to work the damn thing and have more accidents than others.
Get a Parrot if you have an Iphone, it works flawlessly.
