Have not been able to locate the firmware file on Ford's website or Google Drive as was suggested. Anyone that can point me to it, I would appreciate all the help.

The part is available at some dealers. I found one at Walt Sweeney Ford. Just search for the module part number and it popped up on Ebay. They had 70 at the time but they were selling like pancakes. So go for it...

I have been searching everywhere for the flash file to upgrade my SYNC 3 V1.0 to V2.2. I realize it will scream at you if you attempt to turn on CarPlay without the USB port hardware upgrade. Goodness you'd think Ford would have a support website that you could go to and download these upgrades. They are really behind the curve. I even went to my dealer today and they looked at me like I was stupid. They didn't know anything about the upgrade in the first place!

Wanting to upgrade my F150 (2016) without NAV to SYNC 3 version 2.2 Does anyone know where to get the file so that you can flash it through the USB port? There was some talk of having to change out a $150 dollar part to get car play to work. If this is true does anyone have this part number and do you have to go through Ford and let them install it to keep from voiding the warranty? Many thanks to any and all that can clear up some of these questions.

I have the same issue on my iphone 7. But it only happens when I leave the WIFI on. Which is the same problem your are having. To bad Ford won't put a team on this forum to answer or help trackdown issues such as we have. I suspect it is a Apple issue I am running version 10.1.1 the latest out. You know when you get a new phone bugs start creeping out of the wood work. I have a friend that works for Ford and he is trying to get me copies of the tech notes sent to dealers. Maybe they will shed some light on our issue. Will post if I get something relevant.

I got all the music to play just fine. I also, have successfully used thumb drives and for music that is the way to go. You know everything worked just fine with the Galaxy 5 but what do you expect from Apple. They have to be different and hard to deal with from what I am told. I just might call AT&T and tell them I am unsatisfied with the Iphone and give it back to them! Haven't had it a week.

Well, I think you are totally correct. I was using a Samsung Galaxy 5 and I let the salesman talk me into a Iphone. I will try messing around with it but I don't think it will do any good. I just got my F150 last month so I am not totally up on SYNC myself. Everyone on this forum keeps talking about a upgrade to 2.0. Guess that might address some issues down the road. Thanks so much for giving me these tips, I will try some of the settings you suggested. I also, figured out the "app" function is really worthless I wanted to run Goggle Maps on the screen but thats down the tube as well. Richard
