Well, I can tell you with personal experience you are in for a long, frustrating time then. As the former owner of two Acuras, a BMW (worst car I have ever owned) and a Mercedes, the Ford/Lincoln products are the best I have ever had in a long, long time. The 'Benz was a wonderful car, but the maintenance is unbelievable. The rest were just junk. Seriously. Ford is making world class cars. You want to be frustrated? Go buy a BMW or Toyota. There is a reason people get rid of those before they run out of warranty.

Not sure about the adapter, but it sounds like it could be a clock spring issue with the steering wheel.
