  1. Well, I took my 09 Ford Escape in for a "new" mic, hoping the old one was from the "bad batch" from last year. It was working great until last night - the lady doesn't hear me again. She goes thru her list "You can say USB, phone, line in . . .blah blah blah . . . I'm really frustrated with this thing. It had a lot to do with why I picked my vehicle - I liked the idea that I could use my phone hands-free, since I spend a lot of time in my car each week going to and from work. Are the newer models having the same trouble with this thing? Do I just need to trade this lemon in?
  2. Mine would do the *You can say USB . . .etc" too, and if a call came in, they couldn't hear me.I'm hoping it was just a bad batch of mics and that replacing it will do the trick. It's really frustrating, not knowing when it will decide to work! UGH!
  3. That's good to know - my Escape is scheduled to go in to the dealership for the mic replacement on Tuesday. Funny how it took them 2 weeks to get the part in. Kind of sounds like they can't keep them in stock because everyone's getting them replaced now. Glad it worked for you - hope it works for mine!
  4. I don't know the answer to it, but I sure do hope they find a fix - and quick. I'm thinking about trading my Escape in for a new one next year but if they can't get this issue resolved, I'll spend my $$$ elswhere. My dealership just ordered a replacement mic today, so maybe that will take care of it, I hope so!
  5. Please let us know what they said when you take it in - I'll call tomorrow to make my appt. Just curious to see if we all get the same answer and if it takes care of the problem. FORD PEOPLE ; Helloooooo??? How about some help here! Are we not the reason why you still have jobs? You come up with a great idea (SYNC) and then drop the ball when it comes to customer service and technical support. If I did that at my job, well, I wouldn't have one . . .
  6. Thanks for the instructions, I'll try that this week. I agree, i really love it - when it works! When it doesn't work, I find I get distracted trying to get it to work - not a good thing to be doing while driving . . . kind of defeats the purpose of the dang thing to begin with . . .!!
  7. Good question - Hey Ford - What's up? Mine works MOST of the time, but then it will go thru a few days of not working, then it's back again. Very frustrating!! Pigskin75, how do you do a system reset? I'm not real mechanical, is it something I can do or do I have to take it in to my dealership everytime it needs to be done? Thanks, JJ
  8. Greetings, Ok, I took the Escape into the dealership and they hooked it up to their machines - everything checks out ok. They drove it around and it worked fine. Then they shut it off, started it again and it wouldn't work - they can't explain it. They've ordered a new "brain" for it which still hasn't come in, but now it works fine. UGH. Frustrating!! JJ
  9. I had the microphone moved last year and haven't had any problems with it until now. Funny thing is, every now and then, it DOES work, which REALLY ticks me off because it's gonna be that much harder for the techs to figure it out, because it's not consistant. I also pulled the fuse and tried that route too, didn't help at all. My vehicle was in the shop two months ago to rebuild the transmission - they had it for over 3 weeks because the parts were back-ordered and they wouldn't just replace the whole thing. UGH - talk about frustrating!!! Then last week they had to replace a dip-stick something-or-other because it was leaking. Since then I've had the "Lady" not be able to hear me most of the time. Anybody out there have any ideas? Thanks, JJ
  10. I've had my 2009 Escape for a year - LOVE it, but all of a sudden the "lady" isn't hearing my command when say I "phone" . The screen says "listening" and I'll repeat "phone" and she acts like I'm just sitting there saying nothing!! UGH!! What gives, all of a sudden, that she's not hearing me? I'll try it 10 minutes later and she works fine. Has something come loose somewhere? I don't even know where to start, and I hate to have to take it back in to service, since it's a real pain to try to get it out to the Dealership then drive a crummy service vehicle for a couple of days. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! JJ
  11. I totally agree - I have a 2009 Escape non-nav with the mic in the mirror and my husband hated when I called him from it - says I sounded like I was inside of a barrel, and I always had to shout, which was frustrating! I had this put in (dealership did it no charge) and it made a world of difference! Also don't have any "command errors" - it always wanted to dial "Stacey" instead of "Lacey" cause it couldn't understand what I was saying. Now it can get my commands right the first time around. LOVE It!!
  12. Ok, The Ford Dealership had my 09 Escape for one day and got the new mic installed. They put it in the headliner next to the light on the drivers' side. My husband says it's a great improvement - he can actually understand me when I talk, even when the windshield wipers and heater are on! I used to have that "voice" question every command and now "she" dials up my calls without any misunderstanding on the names. I'm really glad I had it done. Now my hubby doesn't mind when I talk on the phone in the vehicle - it used to drive him nuts! It's a small little thing, I don't even notice it cause my interior is black.
  13. I drive a 2009 Ford Escape and was having a problem with that, too, along with my husband complaining that when I talked to him thru Sync, I sounded like I was in a big cave. My dealership hadn't had anyone request the mic upgrade till I called about it, and it was all covered under warranty. I haven't had any problems with the voice recognition since then, and my husband says the phone quality is very much improved.
  14. I just talked to my dealership, and they said no problem - this kit and installation is covered under warranty. He said it will be installed in the A-pillar between the driver door and windshield, which is where it apparently goes in the Escapes. I probably won't even notice it, since my interior is black. I'm hoping this solves the problem of sounding like I'm talking from a 50-pound barrel when using the phone(as my husband describes it).
