I am a recent leasee of a 2011 Explorer Limited. The MYSYNC system, although cool and hip, is a disaster on many levels:
1. I have major screen lockup at random times with no consitent reason. Only way to reset is to park car, turn off engine, open and close drivers door, lock with key fob, reopen and restart.
2. My Bluetooth connects to my IPHONE 3G whenever it feels like it which is only about 80% of the time.
3. The Navigation system is an absolute drag to program, constantly freezes up, says NO GPS and my car is never on the map where it should be. Tends to be a major cause for system lock up. Often if I need to cancela route, the system just "hangs" in the DO YOU WISH TO CANCEL...YES or NO screen forever.
4. The sales guy said "just lightly touch the screen" when I picked up the car, by my screen has always required a significant amount of pressure to respond.
5. From time to time I get a blank BOX in the middle of the screen such as the one that would come up to prompt you "DO YOU WISH TO CANCEL ROUTE", only it contains no words and pops up when in Radio or Temperature control.
6. Twice in the past week, I have turned off the car, got out, locked it, and the stereo remained on and would not turn off even when I hit the AUDIO OFF button.
7. My VOICEPROMPT button is unresponsive about 50% of the time.
I could keep going. Truthfully, it's bells and whistles that seemed cool when I shopped for the car and seemed like a lot of added value for the money, but I would take a good old fashion radio and thermostat with knob controls that is instant without worry any day. I should have been weary of anything MICROSOFT. Like WINDOWS, it is unstable, crashes, freezes and generally caused major frustration...and while driving! Not cool.
P.S. - The SONY Soundsystem is COMPLETELY UNDERPOWERED! With the windows down and the roof open, even at MAX VOLUME on the highway it is not loud enough. And the bass response for a supposed subwoofer is weak at best. My buddies Mazda CX9 has a BOSE system that kicks the pants off of SONY.
