Well I managed to get the sync program on USB stick... It has a bunch of zip files and .swf files... That's right... It's made using XML and flash. I'm a mediocre programmer but I know enough to see that its a bunch of dlls... Swf.. And XML... Which should be easy to totally reprogram... Email me for the files David@designintegration.com -
I've poked around on google, and saw indications that some users had hacked and fixed Sync a number of years back. Later ford finally came out with their own fixes. Well I'm wondering if the same thing can be done with the new vehicles. Basically what i'm hoping for is does anyone know of anyone working on their own fixes? or can anyone post up some instructions on how to get started? Maybe start up some sort of open source project? Unfortunatly i'm a low level C++ programmer, so i can't really do anything.

Honestly, i'm an apple user, but i think android would be better. Apple will most likely make a good system the will have a few things that drive you crazy. Apple will block off all access to a user to write a fix for it. Android will make a good system, but if anything drives you crazy someone will be able to write a fix for it. I'm sorry apple, but i'm abandoning ship. -
LOL, i've had 2 ford edges for 6 months now. Both my touch systems havn't' worked from day one. I was at the dealership exactly 17 times in the first 4 months for "Repair". Finally when my complaints managed to reach someone in the canadian head office he said ford's official response to my complaints are "They'll be fixed by the end of the year" when i asked to get something in writting, email, fax anything. They refused. Come on 1 year to fix two NEW cars. Anyway my strong recommendation is to print off as many of these postings as possible, and take your car back to ford and return the the piece of $#@#. I wish i did, Go get a honda, at least their service was good when it came to warranty.

We all know that the system Needs A LOT of Work! We all know that ford is taking it's sweet time "fixing" the issues. We all know that ford isn't acnoledging that anything's wrong. That aside i wanted to put in a place where people can state the Good things about sync and MFT. So here it is, post people. As for my self, the one Best feature that i use all the time, is the voice calling. i think it's even more accurate then the Iphone's one.

I was at my Ford dealership getting my sync repaired for the 8th time. when they told me that sync 3.0 will be out soon, and canadians will have the Traffic and weather app, directions app like in the USA. Also they siad it would fix the problems with sync freezing, lagging, dissconnecting, rebooting, crashing. Of course i can't find anything hard on this, So if ford does monitor this site, please confirm? -
Well now just about 5 months in having both edges and ford finally releases a patch 2.8 Ford has not and will not detail what's covered in the patch so I'll have to tell you my experience On one car Greatly Stabilizes the system. Now only reset once so far. Instead of every 3 startups Speed boosted about ...20% it's almost livable Gps still slow as hell and interface unchanged Photo call display still doesn't work with iPhone 4 Voice POI still not functional trips still doesn't work for Canada Bluetooth doesn't drop anymore but still has trouble connecting when you start the car Second car Same except Bluetooth still dropps constantly. Ford dealership says complain to ford... Ford says maybe the dealer can do something for you. In conclusion, ford still has A LOT of defects to fix but I'd still recommend getting 2.8 patch

You know when you get a new car, expecially a nice one. You love to show it off; especially to the mother and father in law. Well while seeing my new car, and driving them to a new store, i entered the store address into the GPS prior to going (Took 10 minutes to enter, thank you ford ...) after all the oos and awws, i said and now the GPS will show us how to get there, 2 minutes into the trip The sync system goes totally black... Stayed black for about 30seconds to a minute, then a 3-5 minute "Sync is going to a schedueled restart", then i had to pull over and re-enter the address (10 minutes again). I had told them that this happens once a month (Total lie) and that's it's ok. Then we were off again, and about 5 minutes goes by and again.. BLACK FUC#N screen . We went the rest of the way using the Iphone GPS. Can't believe my cell phone is more powerfull then a In dash computer with unlimited power at it's disposal!! When we were walking around, i overheard them saying to eachother, "Wow the car looks nice, it's comfortable, But why would he buy that piece of shit. The computer doesn't even work, why didn't he return it?" Thank you Ford... Thank you so much!!!!

Some hopfully good news... FORD PLEASE CONFIRM!!! When i purchased my ford edge i had a choice between the GPS and the Reverse camera. At the time i didn't know that the two were incompatable together....Well as we all agree the GPS is a Big mistake. So i asked ford if i can pay and install the camera? .... Ford responded with "Right now the camera and GPS are not conpatable together, but in the 3rd week in april there will be a major software upgrade and you will be able to install the camera for $800. I would assume "major software upgrade" means they'll fix all the problems. If ford would please confirm this, we would love to know that a software upgrade is comming to fix all the bugs and lag in the systsm, you'll instantly stop the bitching of users.

LOL... this is how it went for me. I went with a friend of mine, Under the impression that he's just buying one vehicle. at first it was an edge SEL with no options for $700/month + $15,000 buyout Canadian Funds. By the time he was done haggling he got it down to ... ------------ SEL with leather push to start (This is a must!!) Chrome wheels winter mats tinted windows paneramic roof GPS ... i think that's it... basically Every option except the 12 speakers and the reverse camera (which i regret not getting) ---------------- for $600/month + $15,000 buy out. So when we were happy with that price i pulled out my visa and said I want two of these $550/month + $15,000 buyout. It was accepted.

I Bought two 2011 edges, and well the Cars are GREAT. But the Sync SUCKS!! 1) The system is slow, each push of a button is followed by a 2- 3 second delay 2) DO NOT GET THE GPS!!, Get a Garmin or an iphone. or anything else. The system is not only slow but not intuitive at all. Points of interest are USELESS. On a garmin or iphone you simply type Best Buy. and it will show you ones near by. In ford sync, first you have to dig through a slow system finding the right category before you can do anything. By the time you find your POI on ford sync you would have found it 5 times on a garmin and 20 times on a iphone. 3) The bluetooth disconnects randomly, I listen to my phone's music library, But suddenly it dissconnects and switches to FM radio. The radio is much louder then the Iphone music. So you can imagin the shock when it happens. 4) Many Small annoyances that individually don't seem like much but combined make it feel like Windows Vista. Please keep in mind all of these things are advertised as being part of sync. Picture on phone calls doesn't work Music library from phone not available on screen Video input jack only work when vehicle is in park System tells you in booming voice "Keep alert and obay traffic laws" ... well Duh!! Screen has frozen twice in 1 month In one vehicle the bluetooth chip has frozen and i had to get it repaired by ford twice now. Fuel efficency isn't at all as advertised Sunroof doesn't open and close as you'd expect. you have to hold the button for too long.
