  1. OK, never mind on my post above. I know what you're doing wrong. You are confusing CarPlay Apps and AppLink Apps. They are not the same. I had the same confusion about the ExxonMobil app (works on Applink but not on CarPlay) The Accuweather App is compatible with AppLink but not with CarPlay. To access the Accuweather AppLink App on the Sync screen of your car, plug your phone in via USB, disable CarPlay in the Sync/CarPlay Preferences, and then tap on the Apps Icon on the bottom of the Sync screen. If the AccuWeather app is running on your phone, it should show up in the apps list on the car's screen. Tap it to access it. I've determined that you can use either AppLink Apps (with CarPlay disabled), or CarPlay (with Sync Applink disabled), but not both at the same time. That's why you have to disable CarPlay in order to use the Sync Applink apps. It's kind of a pain when I want to use the AppLink version of the ExxonMobil app, since I have to disable CarPlay to get to it.
  2. Have you tried swiping right on the MKZ CarPlay Screen (or on the CarPlay App screen in Settings>General>CarPlay>SYNC3)? If you have more than 8 Apps activated, the remaining apps are moved to the next screen, which can be accessed by swiping to the right. This support article may help: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205634
  3. I tried downloading the v3.0 software this afternoon while the Owner website was behaving itself, and it appears to have been successful. I was able to download the 3.0 zip file (about 1.6 GB for my Lincoln), transfer it to a 32GB USB 2.0 (slowly.... ), open it using StuffIt Expander, move the extracted files into the right places on the USB, then finally get in the car, start it up, and do the update. After plugging it the USB into the port, it took about 3-4 minutes before the actual update started. Once it started, the screen said at the top Updating System Software..... After about 15 minutes, it gave me the Complete splash screen. I noticed a few updated icons (Sound settings Sirius TravelLink, etc.). During the update, and while I was in my car babysitting it, I received an email from Lincoln telling me to report the Sync update installation, which I did. As of now, the owner site has not acknowledged the uploaded .xml file which is used to let Lincoln know that you updated. I'll give it a day and see if it updates. If not, I can re-upload the .xml file.
  4. I was having problems with it last week trying to update my car his mileage. I also had the login screen repeating issue that was mentioned above. Yesterday, I tried to download the Sync version three update, and it said that the system was having issues and to try again later. As of this morning, still no luck trying to work through the Sync update procedures using either Safari or Firefox.
  5. Thanks Bill. You are right, WiFi apparently has been hit and miss for most users. Unfortunately, as I said in my original post, the problem is that the update doesn't show up on my account either. And it's not like I'm a newbie at this... I've been working with Sync, including updates, since my 2009 MKS. However, I think I've made some progress. Apparently, the Lincoln Owner site doesn't play nice with the Safari web browser. I logged into my account using Firefox, and was able to see and download the update ZIP file: JR3T-14G381-AM SYNC3 v3.0). I'll follow the instructions to the letter and try the install this weekend. Wish me luck, peeps!
  6. Thanks for the input, Multitask. Mine is a February build, which I believe was before Sync 3 v3.0 came out. When was yours built? I would have thought the dealer would have checked for updates when I purchased the car in late April, but apparently not. Tried the Master Reset with no effect. Wifi system still says no updates available. And now it appears that the Lincoln Owner site is going crazy. I'll give it a couple days and see if anything changes. The system is working fine, even with CarPlay on my iPhone 8+, so it may be a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". In any event, when the car goes into the dealer for the next oil change, I'll get this looked at if it has not resolved itself by then.
  7. Hi all, 2018 Lincoln MKZ with Nav and Sync 3. Its currently running Sync v2.3, build 17109. Ive connected the cars WiFi to my home network, but every time I run the Check for Updates, it never returns an update. Ive also checked my Lincoln Owner account for Sync updates, and it says Im already using the most up to date version as of May 2018. Funny thing is, earlier this week, my Lincoln Owner account said an update to 3.0 was available. I didnt have time to download it then, but when I checked back a couple days later, it was gone. My car has still not updated via WiFi, and is still running 2.3. Given that 3.0 had been available for some time, does anybody have any thoughts on what to do here? Mater Reset as a first step maybe? Thanks for any input.
  8. Evil? Seriously? Grow up. If you think that post was ā€œEvilā€, you guys are no different than the whining infantilized students at Missouri, Yale, and Dartmouth who equate hurt feelings with assault and try to silence views they donā€™t like. Maybe the forum moderators could set up a Safe Zone where you can decompress, eat cookies, and watch videos of frolicking puppies after being traumatized by posts that offend you. Now, back on topicā€¦. My 2015 Lincoln MKZ came with an embedded modem that lets it connect to the Lincoln Mobile app so I can do things like remote start, unlock the doors, turn on the A/C, etc. It was part of the tech package, and to my knowledge was available starting in 2015 model Lincolns. It appears that only recently Ford is making the same tech available on their lesser Ford vehicles (yeah, I said lesser. Get over it, it's true when you drive a Lincoln). See here: http://www.cnet.com/news/ford-announces-sync-connect-smartphone-app/ You can try, but my guess is that itā€™s not going to be trivial to add an embedded modem into an older vehicle. Yeah, it could be done in theory, but at what cost? I can tell you my modem is integrated with the Nav/GPS, the satellite radio, and all the Travel-Link functions, not to mention many of the mechanical systems in the car like the door locks and remote start. You're likely going to have a huge task in adding a modem in an older vehicle such that it will match the functions and capabilities of the current cars. It would be easier to just get a new vehicle. Bill Littlejohn, no, sorry, you donā€™t have a modem in your Flex. They were not available in 2012.
  9. You need to have a (factory installed) modem in your car for this system to work. So for those with 2014 model cars or earlier, forget it, you're SOL. And even then, the modems are usually only available with the high-end tech packages. I have a loaded 2015 MKZ with the factory modem, and I can tell you that the Lincoln iPhone app works great! I love the remote start and lock features! You're joking, right?
  10. My salesman showed me an official Ford publication where it was described. I'll see if I can get a copy.
  11. That article is old and out of date. If you check the website again, you'll find an updated press release stating that Ford has changed the rollout of the AppLink to Lincoln first, then the rest of the Ford cars.
  12. According to my dealer, this is not correct. Lincoln will get the applink first, and the lesser Ford brands will follow in a year or two.
  13. I've said this before: Make sure you direct your outrage to the proper culprit. In both of your theories (privacy laws and French language requirement) are based on Canadian laws and policies. These have nothing to do with Ford. Ford is simply reacting to these policies and have made a business decision that in light of these policies, it isn't worthwhile or practical to offer Sync services in Canada. I can assure you that if there was an easy way for Ford to get more people to sign up for Sync services in Canada, they would offer it. It's the crazy Canuck laws that are the problem, not anything with Ford, so be sure to complain to the RCMP or whoever is in charge up there!
  14. Muzicman is right -- delete the BB from Sync. But before you re-pair the device, also delete Sync from the bluetooth profiles in the Blackberry. Deleting the profiles from both sources and starting fresh usually fixes a lot of connection problems, especially with Blackberries.
  15. Sorry, did not mean to discourage you. The MyFordTouch system in your car is new and I don't know anything about it. Good luck and I hope you get it to work.
  16. I think your ride has the new MyFordTouch system, right? I do not know anything about that new system, sorry.
  17. Remove the fuse that controls Sync for a couple minutes. This should reset the system moreso than than the System Reset button.
  18. A camcorder? Seriously? Well, that's gotta be a first. I'd really like to know the answer to this, but my guess is that you are SOL.
  19. AFAIK, Sync cannot do this. For phonebook entries, it only handles addresses and phone numbers. The Photos setting you mention is for photos to show on your Nav screen, but these are independent of the phonebook entries.
  20. Yes, it does it. I use the voice control to say Show Italian Restaurants for example, and they are shown on the map as icons. Touching one of them displays the details of that restaurant.
  21. Check out the latest compatibility chart here: http://www.nsapp.fordtechservice.dealerconnection.com/sync/usEN/sync_us_EN_iop_1_30.pdf I've been using an Apple iPod Nano 4th Gen and it works great with all the voice commands. All of them play protected content too -- can't say that about the other players on the list OR any USB flash drives. As for the Zune, I do not know anything about them, nor do I know a single person that uses one. Frankly, Apple has the slickest media players out there. Why anyone uses anything else is a complete mystery.
  22. The 2.x updates must be done by the dealer. The problem you describe is not unique. It took my Lincoln dealer a couple of tries before he could download the proper software from the Ford FTP site -- apparently there are many layers of security. It sounds like your dealer does not know what he is doing on these updates. You may want to try another dealer, and it may be worthwhile to call first and ask the service folks if they have done it before.
  23. According to the auto press, the apps were going to be available only in the Lincoln line since it is the higher-end brand. Lesser Ford brands will get it in a year or two.
  24. My OM says there are 15 standard text responses in the Sync system (Where R U?, Be there in 10 mins, Stuck in Traffic, What R U wearing?, etc.)
