  1. The only issue with not upgrading the USB hub is that once you go to 2.0-2.2 it yells at you when you start the vehicle that the USB hubs are "not compatible" and sync will not use them until you update. I know because I have the update and I'm waiting for the parts to come in. They are back ordered right now. As for warranty I would not worry too much. It's a fairly easy swap.

  2. The software is ready. My thinking is that it's because the new USB hubs and a couple other small parts are on national back order is why they are holding back. I have 2.0 on mine and almost every time I start my cmax it complains that the USB hub is not supported. I have ordered the correct updated and it's back ordered until 12/20 so I think once the parts do come into stock then they will roll out the update.

Do you guys know how I can find out the part number for the 2016 mustang? If its already backordered I'd love to put a request in now so my hardware is good to go when the update finally comes out. My dealership has been no help at all and their parts department seem clueless.

Yes +1 on some kind of part number as most parts guys have no clue. I would also like to order mine that when they come off back order I'll get on sooner. Thanks!

I ordered the parts I needed... No, I have a 2014 Fusion that is outfitted with a 2017 Sync 3 2.0 APIM and Screen that I purchased. I also customized the programming on it to my liking...Hense I am using a ST boot screen, Lincoln main theme, etc... However, you need a new USB interface to enable CarPlay that has the apple authentication chip inside of it.

Nice! I have a 2014 cmax energi and I just installed a sync 3 unit in mine last week. I love it so far. I wish I had the CarPlay option. I could have gotten it but the guy I bought it from said they were a bit more expensive and that the USB hub was back ordered anyway. Couple questions. Did you do the programming of it yourself? If so how? IDS? Also did you get the new USB hub? How much and do you have a part number by chance?

  5. Not a scam. You would likely have to swap out your current unit for one with the nav plus you would need antennas. I have dealt with that company for my MFT to Sync 3 upgrade on my 2015 Mustang and really wish I would have dealt with forum user OEMRadiosolutions aka Jesse out of Dallas instead. He is on a couple forums and his support is top notch. I would email him as he will absolutely know what you would have to do to get nav on your system. From my understanding the local dealerships in Dallas use him for after sale nav upgrades for their customers. As a matter of fact that company OEMautopartsco uses him to program their stuff anyway so I would recommend dealing directly with Jesse. I didn't head my own advice and I am regretting it daily. Anyway, his email is OEMRadiosolutions@gmail.com and you can find alot of his posts over on the mustang6g.com forums. If you direct message him over there (or maybe on here, not sure) he generally gets back to you almost immediately.

Plus 1 for Jesse. He is great! He can 100% get nav working for you. As stated he might have to swap out your APIM which is the brain behind your screen. It's a little pricy but worth it!
