snoboy58@yahoo.com
I'm trying to pair my Droid to our Edge but every time I begin typing the pass into the Droid the phone says a problem is occuring and won't let me finish entering the pass. Should I be looking for an answer here or on the Droid website? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to type the password very quickly on the Droid before it times out. Using the hard keyboard helps to give more time and type faster. Some have found it's easier to start the pairing from the Droid, and then discover it on the SYNC menu.
starcaster
Are you trying to pair with Sync? I am assuming that you are. On a different forum I saw that you can type the password "0000" instead of the number that Sync tells you. You could try that and see if that helps? kdaros
The fast typing of the password worked for me after several tries. I like the suggestion of starting the pairing from the phone. If you try it let us know if/how it works.
abjb
Are you trying to pair with Sync? I am assuming that you are. On a different forum I saw that you can type the password "0000" instead of the number that Sync tells you. You could try that and see if that helps? I just paired with my Motorola Backflip (Droid), I couldn’t type the 6 digits fast enough so I used the 4 digit 0000 PIN. BUT I had to get SYNC to display the 0000 PIN before it would pair. I used the up/down arrows (I think, might have been the tune knob) to get SYNC to change the 6 digit PIN to 0000. ab
gdc1114
None of these suggestions has worked for me. Trying to pair my Android phone (Dell Streak - Android 2.1) to Sync on my 09 F150 has been frustrating and fruitless. Tried it every way i can think possible, but always says "pairing process failed," regardless. What am I missing?? Had 2 previous (windows mobile) phones paired with no problems. This is really acute. Please help.
gdc1114
adding to my post above, I've tried the 0000 method instead of the 6-digit, but per the Sync chat person, my version of sync (with the navigation screen) doesn't allow you to use an alternate PIN instead of the 6-digit. Don't know what's up with that, but there's been no way i could ever get 6 digits in before having the "there is a problem" message pop up and then the "pairing process failed" message. i've tried it every way under the sun, from car to phone, phone to car, using (or trying to) the 6-digit; using 0000, using 1234 -- until exhaustion; even reinstalled sync update v2.1; rebooted phone, etc., etc. No Luck. Need a smart helper quick.
bullie
I had the same problem with my Droid X, tried for ages and could not get it work. Then I decided to test my bluetooth on the Droid by pairing with a bluetooth headset. It worked. next time I tried to pair to Sync it worked first time. Let sync search for the Droid and use access code "0000" on both the Sync and the Droid X. Now it works great.
siverkat
I had this probem when pairing my Nex1 , discovered that you can edit the number that the SYNC system issues (you will see edit buttom on the SYNC touchscreen ). Android phones like 4 digits. I just created my own 4 digit code and my phone then had no trouble connecting.

If that don't work, might talk to the carrier
