Pele 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2022 Hello. I have a 2012 Ford Expedition EL Limited that I'd like to upgrade the Sync software on. I know I have Sync 1 with voice-activated navigation, as I have a large LCD touchscreen in the dashboard. (See attached picture.) According to the Sync website, it's at Version 4.0.2. I have found several people sharing files to downgrade from version 4.6 to 4.4, as Apple's Siri product does not work properly on 4.6 I have attempted to install these 4.4 versions, but I have no clue if the upgrade has installed properly or not. There is no progress bar or loading details. System voice simply said, "Software downloading, please ignore the first Installation Complete message and wait ten minutes." I fell asleep in the truck while it was idling and woke up half an hour later to my neighbor knocking on my window asking if I was okay. The screen said, "Installation Successful." I do know that the system does NOT revert back to BlueTooth phone if I shut off the truck and come back to it. I do know that the system does NOT display song information when playing via BlueTooth. From those two items, I can surmise that the update has NOT taken effect. I'd like to install 4.4 or 4.6 on the system. (I do not use Apple products and the lack of Siri does not bother me.) The Ford website simply says I need to visit a dealership to install software and does not offer any method of downloading to a USB drive at all.
alcohenusa 8 Report post Posted December 19, 2022 The versions of 4.4 and 4.6 that I am aware of are NOT for the Nav/Touch-Screen version of Sync.
Multitask 38 Report post Posted December 20, 2022 If I remember correctly. If there is an update for it, it was done through a CD that was inserted. I would not do the update. you gain nothing.
